THE<br />
HIRSCHENHAUS<br />
The so-called Hirschenhaus was built in<br />
the year 1594 and thus originates from<br />
the epoch of the early modern period.<br />
Especially distinctive are the corner<br />
tower, the flat saddle roof, and the rich<br />
painted front walls. 300 years after the<br />
construction the building was rebuilt by<br />
August von Thiersch and put into the<br />
condition how it can be seen today.<br />
Inside the building, the restaurant “Zum<br />
Hirschen” is located, and in front of the<br />
house is the famous market fountain<br />
with the bavarian lion.<br />
AND THE WATER<br />
FOUNTAIN<br />
The market fountain was built in the<br />
center of the marketplace in 1558. But<br />
the distinctive middle pillar was added<br />
later in1628. With the construction of<br />
the marble basin, the market fountain<br />
was completed in the year 1677. In the<br />
course of a renovation, the market<br />
fountain received its present form with<br />
the new decoration in the style of the<br />
Gothic. After 156 years the fountain was<br />
finally completely renovated the year<br />
and shines in new splendor.<br />
