Kalonji or Kalo Jeera is also known as black cumin or black caraway. It mainly

grows in the south and southwest Asia. Though popularly known as black cumin,

it is definitely not ‘Kala Jeera’.

Kalonji or black caraway seeds are extracted from the fruits of the Nigella sativa

plant. In some parts of the world, these seeds are known as black onion seeds.

The Kalonji plant bears fennel flowers that have five to ten petals and blooms in
