Every year we need to update residents’ details
so you can be registered and vote in elections.
It’s called the annual canvass and we sent out
forms in July asking you to confirm your details.
Reminders were sent out last month, and if we still
don’t get a response we will visit you at home to
encourage you to complete the form.
Luke Swinhoe, electoral registration officer, said:
“It’s important you respond as soon as possible,
so we can make sure we have the correct details
on the electoral register for every address in
Darlington. To make sure that you are able to
have your say at the parish and council elections
next year, simply check the form when it arrives
and respond as soon as you can. If you are not
currently registered, your name will not appear on
the form.
“If you want to register, the easiest way is online at
www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or we can send you
information explaining how to do it in the post.
Either way, you will still need to complete the form
and send it back to us.”
If you have recently moved it is especially
important you keep an eye out for the canvass
form and check the details.
