This project is fundedthrough the Federal GovernmentsLandcare Grant program ‘SmartFarming Partnerships’.“This investment will enablegrassfed beef producers todemonstrate their environmentalcredent-ials and reduce theiremissions to access marketopportunities and participate incarbon neutral and low carbonsupply chains,” Mr Strong said.Agcotech Chairman, CharlesOlsson believes the Australian RedMeat industry is leading the worldin all classes of Environmental,Social, and Governance policy, andthis newest collab between MLA,The University of Sydney andAgcotech, will potentially take thered meat industry to a new level onthe international playing field.“Australia has dominated the redmeat market with best practice onfarm welfare, and now looks forwardto repeating performance to achieveCN 30. I fully support this huge goal,and believe with the right motivation,we can shift the red meat industry toeven higher levels of production andcontrol methane at the same time tobe the envy of the world,” Mr Olssonsaid.Agcotech already has two productsalready released into the Australianmarket, and one product releasedinto Asia. Various methodologiesexist for Australian farmers:• A new energy supplement thatintends to meet ‘additionality’, underthe existing beef herd methodologymethod. This method is classified toreduce “’methane intensity’ aimingat increasing liveweight gain duringdry seasons, allowing animals to beturned off earlier: also aiming toidentify nonperforming breedingcows allowing them to be shipped offthe property earlier, all adding up toa reduced carbon footprint and moreproductive herd.• A direct abatement pastureproduct that achieves a modestcarbon dioxide reduction in methaneproduced by cattle, mainly forsouthern regions in Australia (NSWand below), while also improvingpasture digestibility. This methodwill allow graziers to participate in aVoluntary Carbon Market, offsettingemissions against their footprint tobegin a pathway to Carbon neutrality.It is hoped over the next 4 years,this joint investment in new orexisting combinations of methanemitigants combined with patentedfeedblock technology, will allowhigher levels of direct methaneMore rain predicted through to OctoberFavourable growing conditions for the winter seasonhave been predicted for most of Queensland. It is importantthat government, industry, the supply chain andthe general public continue to work together tokeep it that way.“We have successfully done this for over 100years and industry and government are takingpractical steps to ensure that continues.”
Kingaroy hosts heritage rallyPEANUT INDUSTRY INNOVATIONSThe Kingaroy and District Vintage MachineryClub is hosting the Queensland Heritage Rallyfrom September 16 to 18, from 8.30am until 5pmeach day except Sunday when the event will closeat 1pm.This Queensland Heritage rally event is heldevery two years.The QHR committee choose a club from a townin Queensland to host the event and Kingaroy hasthe honour this year.Not only will a huge display of machinery fromyester year be on display, there will be continuingdisplays using these machines, demonstrating theway our early farming community carried out theworkings of their farms.Visitors will be amazed at the use of horses andthe equipment that they used in the early days, theinnovation of the peanut industry and the local inputinto the mechanisation of this industry.There will be the huge array of tractors and machinerythat evolved throughout the last century.There will also be a large display of vintage andveteran cars, trucks, bikes and any other machinesborn out of the last century as well as tractor pulls,corn cracking, peanut thrashing, horse works displays.Throughout the event, there will be plenty offood stalls as well as other stalls - including craft,tools, and parts for tractors.A big raffle will be on sale at the entrance tothe office with great prizes.
