types of software tools were discussed throughout the
various topics of consideration, and I’ve assembled some
reference material on these tools for you here. It’s always best to remember that aside
from some legacy tools in game development (like 3ds max or Maya), there is plenty
of shift and room for growth in game tool development.
3-D MODELING PACKAGES
Each 3-D modeling package has its supporters and detractors. Many artists and designers
are extremely passionate about their package of choice, where familiarity is
often key. Each package has its own strengths and weaknesses (or perceived
strengths and weaknesses). Rather than try to point out each, it’s best to simply find
the tool that works best for you in accomplishing your production requirements and
goals. Don’t be afraid to share knowledge with your peers. Training budgets for independent
developers are very small or nonexistent. Developers are always learning
more and trying to take their skills deeper into various packages.

exposure. This free program can help get you oriented
toward building objects in 3-D.
