What to Pack
• Domina Coral Bay is a relaxed holiday resort without a strict dress code however you are still
required to dress appropriately in the restaurants.
• Light clothing suitable for Sharm el Sheikh’s climate is recommended and you should prepare
yourself for the relatively hot, humid atmosphere. Also, for plenty of sun.
• Casual resort wear is appropriate for daytime and evening activities.
• Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit, sarong, hat, sunglasses, sun screen with adequate UV protection
(SPF 30+ is recommended), camera, and chargers.
• Swimming-towels are available at the resort and hairdryers are available in each room.
• A warm jacket is recommended for the flight to Egypt as aircrafts tend to be a bit cool from the
air – conditioning.
• If you suffer from a specific medical condition be sure to bring an adequate stock of the appropriate
medication along. It is recommended to get a doctors’ note for any prescribed medication that you
take along with you.
Money matters
• 1 Egyptian Pound (EGP) = 100 piastres. Latest exchange rate: EGP1 = ZAR0,9067
(20 Jul 2022 06:15).
• 1 US Dollar (USD) = 100 cents. Latest exchange rate: USD1 = ZAR17,1 (20 Jul 2022 06:15).
• Both Egyptian Pound and US Dollars are accepted.
• You will not be able to purchase Egyptian Pounds in South Africa, only USD.
Therefore travellers should buy US Dollars while in South Africa and convert these to Egyptian
Pounds on arrival in Egypt.
• Currency can be exchanged at the airport, bureaux de change, banks and hotels. Bureaux de
change generally offer the best rates and service.
• You will be required to present your passport, your international air ticket and proof of residence
(i.e. utility bill no older than 3 months) when purchasing your foreign exchange.
• When you purchase from local vendors in USD, please note that you may receive Egyptian Pounds
in change.

• Major credit cards are accepted in major hotels, restaurants and main medical facilities in large cities
and tourist areas.
• Make sure you retain any receipts to check later against your statements as there have been cases
of shop owners adding extra zeros.
• ATMs are available and tourist-friendly cities are saturated with cash dispensers.
• Obtain your credit card PIN number before leaving SA for withdrawing cash at an ATM. Some ATMs
require a 4-digit PIN, so you may have to change your PIN before departing.
• There is a severe shortage of small change in Egypt so make sure you hoard small change wherever
possible.
• Because of the state of the national currency, many tour operators and hotels will only accept
payment in US dollars or euros. Although technically illegal but never enforced, it is also becoming
increasingly common for upscale hotels to demand payment in US dollars, though more times
than not you can charge your room on a credit card. To be on the safe side, it’s a good idea to travel
around Egypt with a modest supply of dollars.
• As a rule of thumb, always look at the money you’re given when exchanging, and don’t accept any
badly defaced, shabby or torn notes because you’ll have great difficulty off-loading them later. The
same goes for transactions in shops, taxis etc.
• You should inform your bank of your travel dates if you intend using your credit card so that they can
lift the hold on your account (a measure implemented a few years ago to minimise international cred
it card fraud). If you do not let your bank know, it is likely that your card will not work abroad.

Staying connected
• South African mobile phones work in Egypt. However, before you leave South Africa you will need
to apply for an international roaming facility should you wish to use your mobile phone. International
roaming charges will be charged by your service provider. For questions about your service or billing,
please contact your service provider. Please note, that there is an option to apply for international
SMS roaming only.
• You will also have access to free Wi-Fi at the resort and therefore can access Whatsapp to keep in
touch with family and friends.
• 220 volts, 50Hz (not the same as SA). Plugs are European 2-pin round and Schuko 2-pin round.
Budgeting for the trip
• Please note that any additional drinks (drinks not included in the all-inclusive menu and drinks
served after midnight in bars) will be for your own expense.
• Other personal expenses not included are room service, laundry, spa treatments, phone calls,
shopping, taxis, pocket money and any additional tour or excursions booked by you.
Security
• Be cautious in public areas as petty theft like pickpocketing and muggings are common.
Keep valuables hidden and safe.
• Women should not travel on their own.
• Stay away from demonstrations and large gatherings.
• Always have your passport with you.
• Do not take pictures of military sites, government buildings, embassies, officials, personnel in
uniform, bridges, the Suez and other canals, or inside the metro etc. Do not use binoculars near the
airport.

Collect your luggage and proceed to the airport exit where our local representative, bearing Hallmark

rooms may not be ready by the time you arrive due to check – in only being from 14h00.
