Quins 55 - 5 Oldfield Old Boys II
Saturday 25th February 2023
Counties 3 Tribute Somerset North
Try(s): Lee Pearn (3), Craig Spiller (2), Bradley Hodge (1), James Woodman (1), Louis
Meacham (1)
Conversions: Christopher Page (5)
A huge bonus point victory for Quins to finish off the month!
It took Quins just 10 minutes to get on the score sheet. Quick hands from the backs to
work the ball wide with Craig Spiller working his way back inside taking on the entire
Oldfeild defence to finally dive over under the posts. Just 5 minutes later Craig Soiller
got his 2nd of the match. The forwards truddled the ball up the pitch for the back to
work the ball through the hands again for Craig Spiller to splice through the Oldfield
defence once again. 5 minutes later Quins had crossed again this time lee Pearn
creating a gap following a great switch with Christopher Page to open up the denfence
and dive over the line. Oldfield did manage to get on the score sheet following a
missed pass from Quins to run in from the half way line. Normallity was resumed 10
minutes later with James Woodman powering his way over the line to secure the
bonus point in just over 30 minutes. On the stroke of half time it was the forwards turn
to get in on the action with Bradley Hodge smashing his way over to leave the match
all but won at half time!
The second saw Oldfield improve their defence. With Quins still having the lions share
of the possesion & territory it was inevitable that they would score again. After 20
minutes it was Lee Pearn who broke the 2nd half deadlock. Qucik hands once again
paying dividends for Quins and Lee Pearn working his way around the Oldfield
midfield. 10 minutes later Quins scored their 7th try of the match. David Lloyd picking
and going from a penalty with Louis Meacham powering over under the posts. As
Oldfield threatned just before full time there was time for one more try, Lee Pearn
intercepting just inside the Quins half to run half the length of the pitch to get his hat
trick!
An 8 try haul for Quins on a cold winters afternoon at Valhalla! A superb team
performance!
