The power to disinfect
Bunzl are partnering with Vycel,
Britain’s electrostatic disinfection
technology provider, to deploy
it’s ‘Vycel 4’ to the construction
industry.
“Bunzl recognise the
fundamental difference between
sanitisation and disinfection
provided by Vycel Electrostatic
technology," says Vycel Founder
and CEO Ken Parker.
Ken also runs Royalton
Property Group in Guildford,
which has £1 Bn of luxury
property in development.
Only commercial kitchens,
regulated by Food Standards, are
currently required to both
clean/sanitise and then disinfect
as a totally separate process.
According to Parker: “Britain’s
laws around hygiene are so
archaic, that we still – in spite of
a global pandemic – only require
commercial kitchens, by law, to
both clean and disinfect
environments separately – to
make them truly hygienic and
take them ‘back to safe'."
"Vycel is providing 'Michelinstarred'
disinfection standards of
commercial kitchens for the
construction industry etc.
"If we are now being told we
all need to learn to live with the
virus, we can't safeguard
ourselves, employees and loved
ones against future lockdowns or
further restrictions with a mop."
"We've got to get serious
about protection. Rapid-to-deploy
Vycel electrostatic disinfection
technology is the answer."
"Petrified staff being asked to
return to work need to feel
confident that they are being
properly protected from viruses
in the work environment. They
will rightly ask, does this
environment carry the Vycel
mark of disinfection?"
Large capital investment
Rainford Solutions has
announced 800K capital
investment in a new, in-house
electrostatic powder painting
facility has just been completed at
their facility in St Helens. The
new plant will offer significant
benefits in lead time reduction,
capacity, speed, reliability, and
powder coating performance.
The new 950 sqm powder
coating facility will house two
advanced powder coating
processes, line one comprising of
a fully automated on-line
solution, with an advanced 4
stage pre-treatment wash and
encompassing the latest fast
colour change powder application
technology from Gema. This line
will be supporting small to large
production volumes with a
second semi-automated bespoke
line supporting prototype and
project work.
A significant part of this
investment is with Gema, who
have supplied and supported the
installation of one of their
advanced fast colour change
solutions pictured below.
Mark Corns, operations
director at Rainford Solutions
went on to explain, “After a
comprehensive market study it
was clear that the Gema was the
natural fit for Rainford Solutions.
Having visited several
installations, Gema’s Magic
Compact delivered the benefits
we were looking to achieve, its
robust quality and more
importantly after sales service
provision were also key parts of
our decision making process
around this investment. The
professionalism and knowledge
around their products through
every step of the journey has
been superb, from technical
Parker argues that a multitude
of companies from airports to
hotels are misselling, making
false claims that they are "99.7-
99.9% Covid safe", when in
actual fact all they are 'doing is a
once over with a cloth'.
According to Vycel's Chairman
of the Advisory Board, Marcos
Angelini, the former Head of
Hygiene for Unilever for 11 years
says: “Productivity in the
workplace is critical and Vycel is
the answer."
“The pandemic has made the
business environment volatile
and unpredictable, but also
sales, design, installation and
commissioning teams it has been
a pleasure to deal with Gema
and this further reinforced that
we have made the right decision
to select the industry leaders as
our partner.”
Paul Gamble, paint shop
manager at Rainford Solutions
added, “Having supported the
procurement process and
overseeing the installation of the
new system we have been
impressed with the
professionalism, quality,
communication and support
throughout the journey with
Gema. We put the Magic booth
through its paces conducting
multiple fast colour changes and
experienced the quality off the
line within hours of going live,
we are delighted with the results.
The booth system is equipped
with fast colour changing
disrupted communication and
teamwork.”
“Companies that properly
protect their staff can bolster job
satisfaction and performance,” he
says.
Vycel are educating corporate
leaders on the fundamental need
for a 2-step hygiene process in
terms of protecting office
environments, the same as
adopted by commercial kitchens.
Vycel provides certification
adhesives which are being
displayed on construction sites
that use Vycel to protect their
staff.
“Ultimately, there is a
fundamental breakdown in terms
of understanding the difference
between cleaning and
disinfecting in the corporate
sector,” according to Ken Parker.
“Vycel in partnership with
Bunzl is changing all of that”.
Employees must feel safe in
their workplace. If not, they can
raise their concerns with their
local authority, Citizens Advice or
the Heath and Safety Executive.
“The Vycel mark is both an
assurance and insurance policy
for smart construction
companies,” says Parker.
technology along with recycling
cyclone, automatic reciprocating
guns and two manual touch-up
platforms and also benefits from
Gema’s latest Industry 4.0
offerings. It’s the perfect match to
meet our demands of highquality
finished products, high
degrees of automation,
production efficiency and
environmentally sound.”
Gema’s latest Opticenter feeds
the system with powder and
incorporates all-in-one suction
pump technology. The
Optispeeder hopper features
include powder level detection,
and a highly automated cleaning
process. These features have all
been engineered to make the
system as accurate and reliable as
possible, whilst keeping the
physical footprint low and need
for human interaction to a
minimum.
