DR RAILTON SCOTT APPEAL: Spring Fundraising Week
In place of our Annual Whist which we were unable to hold again this year, the Committee
organised a fundraising week which started with an Afternoon Tea in the Village Hall on
23rd April. We would have been happier to have had a few more customers, but despite
that £791 was raised thanks to some very generous donations on the day. A wonderful
spread of baking was donated by kind people in the village, and what was not eaten was
distributed to helpers, and feeding some hungry players at the tennis club. (Also, my
granddaughter here from Switzerland was delighted to be taking a selection home to
Thistle Cottage)
There were several
people who answered the
call to organise a home
whist evening, and £1,182
was raised in this way. Moria
Turner and Diane Loutit held
a Wee Whist in the Reading
Room with six tables playing
which was a great success.
Kirsty Cuthbert and one
or two others arranged an
evening of whist with supper
at their homes and the pub
quiz at the Cross Keys raised
£200. (Thank you to Brian for
facilitating this).
The just giving page set up by Stuart Thomson raised £320. The collection box in McNicoll’s
raised £64.
In total, the Spring fundraising
event raised £2,557. This is a
wonderful sum, and we are, as
always, extremely grateful to
the village of Kippen for their
generosity.
You will be glad to know that it is
the intention to return to our usual
event, with the sale of raffle tickets
and whist evening in the Village
Hall on the 1st Friday in February
2023. It will be wonderful to get
back to the old tradition……. we’ve
all missed it
