August 8, 1934 - July 18, 2022<br />
Life’s race well run, life’s race well done and now he rest.<br />
ohnny Lee <strong>Bethea</strong> was the son of the late Lula Purdy<br />
<strong>Bethea</strong> and William A. <strong>Bethea</strong>. He was born August<br />
8, 1934 in Dillon, SC. He graduated from Gordon High<br />
School and joined the Navy. After his discharge, he<br />
moved back to Dillon, SC to take care of his mother.<br />
He was the owner of <strong>Bethea</strong>’s Liquor Store. He had a degree in<br />
Accounting.<br />
<strong>Johnny</strong> was a very caring person. He was quiet and laid back.<br />
He met no strangers. <strong>Johnny</strong> accepted Christ in his life and was<br />
a member of Bethel AME Church in Dillon, SC. He served in<br />
many capacities as a lifetime member, including the General<br />
Trustee board.<br />
<strong>Johnny</strong> was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers,<br />
Ulysses <strong>Bethea</strong> of Baltimore Maryland, James <strong>Bethea</strong> of New<br />
York, Eddie <strong>Bethea</strong> of Rowland, NC; sisters, Annie Mae Utley of<br />
Augusta, GA , Eloise Huges of New York, and Jeannie Pernell of<br />
Dillon, SC.<br />
<strong>Johnny</strong> leaves to cherish his memories a very special friend,<br />
Linda Davis, son, Morris Jerod Campbell, 6 grandchildren, two<br />
great-grandchildren, his brother, Rodulphus <strong>Bethea</strong> of New<br />
York, sister-in-law, Millie <strong>Bethea</strong> of New York and a host of<br />
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gone but not forgotten!
