Message from HOS SISB Chiangmai
The past couple of years have been tremendously difficult for our
extended SISB family and particularly hard on our students. I am very
proud of the perseverance that our young learners have shown and
commend them all on their positive attitude in a very difficult situation.
Well done students!
This year our students have really mastered integrating technology into
their learning and this will be of value as they move forward in a more
normal setting next year. SISB Chiangmai has a focus on integrating technology
into our lessons. The modern student will need to be comfortable
with multiple forms of technology and media in the future; that learning
process starts here. We begin the journey in our Nursery department by
introducing logic games and the code-a-pillar. This builds throughout our
Nursery and Kindergarten and into Primary school where our children
start to learn to code. Children who show a natural affinity for coding are
introduced to Python, which is used professionally. We are committed to
ensuring our students master the skills necessary to thrive in a 21st century
job market and that includes communication, critical thinking,
collaboration and creativity. These skills have been mentioned by leading
CEO’s as being as important in the future as exam results!
Throughout the year we have been building on our success through the Council of International Schools (CIS)
accreditation programme and we are very proud to be approaching the end of this arduous process and full
accreditation. We have also started our Duke of Edinburgh award scheme in Secondary school which provides
a multitude of opportunities for our students to develop personally and also enhance their potential university
applications in the future. We also introduced iGCSE in our secondary school and will be increasing the subject
choice year on year as we grow.
We have seen our students shine locally and nationally this year in sporting events and academic challenges.
From Gold medals in Swimming and Tennis through to qualification for the World Scholars cup regional round
in Bangkok, our students have exceeded all expectations. We will grow and nurture this talent in the coming
academic year where we plan to increase competition across the spectrum with new partnerships and
competition with other International schools.
In conclusion, “Our school year is not a sprint, it is a marathon! It takes skill to navigate a successful academic
year and it takes perseverance to overcome the obstacles we all face throughout the school year”. We have
overcome so much this year that we welcome the challenge of a new year with open arms and using our theme
“Run the Race with Perseverance”, we will continue to deliver a high quality education to our students and
increase the extra curricular activities that are available in order to provide a true holistic education. Thank you
for trusting us with your child’s education and we look forward to seeing you next year for even more success
guided by our ‘spirit of excellence’.
Message from
Head of Nursery
and Kindergarten
Department
“Education begins the moment we see children as innately wise and capable beings. Only
then can we play along in their world.” Vince Gowmon
This year, our young learners have once again shown us that they are resilient, capable and adventurous.
We learned our ABCs and how to read, we made new friends and we learned how to
hold our pens. Most importantly, we grew and changed and we did it together!
It is not only an honour to teach children, but also to learn from them and to discover the world
through their eyes. From our little N1 students who bravely started school, we learn to be courageous,
all the way to our K2 students showing us to never give up, each year and at each level,
we as adults grow too.
We are proud of all our students for what they have achieved this year. A big congratulations also
to our graduating K2 students and all the best for the new journey that lies ahead.
I would like to thank our school community and all stakeholders for another successful year. To
our teachers who once again worked tirelessly to ensure that the students are safe, learning and
developing; to the parents, families and guardians for your trust and support; and most of all, to
our little shining stars, every single student, thank you!
Have a safe and wonderful holiday and we will see you again in the new Academic Year!
Message from
Head of Primary
Department
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”
Malcom X
This year, the students began their learning online and we all rose to the challenge of teaching and
learning with digital resources quickly and effectively.
The return to school was celebrated by teachers, students and parents alike. Great progress has
been made since our return to the classroom. During their time at home, students realised the
happiness of learning in school and the SISB primary classrooms have been full of joy, laughter
and learning this year!
We are proud of all our students for what they have achieved this year. A big congratulations also
to our graduating Grade 6 students who will move on to Secondary in August.
I would also like to thank the parents for their support and the teachers for their hard work. Have
a wonderful holiday and we will see you again in the new Academic Year!
Message from
Head of Secondary
Department
The Academic Year of 2021/22 introduced us to our first cohort of IGCSE learners as our Secondary
entered its second year at SISB Chiang Mai.
Although not short of challenges, we end the year with positive memories, new friendships, and fond
experiences. There are many people to thank for a great year. First of all, to our fantastic group of
young boys and girls. You preserved with a humble spirit that inspired both teachers and parents.
Our Secondary House Cup, the Duke of Edinburgh International Award, and The World Scholar’s Cup
are all a testament to our hard work and dedication as an SISB community. Inside the classroom, our
students persevered to attain new knowledge and build life-long bonds among new and old peers.
Finally, a thank you must go to all parents and fellow teachers. Your continued support, determination,
and mentorship for our community are what make SISB Chiang Mai a home for everyone. Let us Run
Teacher’s message
Dear K1 Joy,
Kimberly Tobin
It’s been less than 6 months since I’ve been your teacher and, as
summer draws near, I feel like I am just beginning to get to know
you and wish we had more time together.
You are a curious, creative, and kind bunch of students. I can’t
explain how much I enjoyed hearing your thoughts and ideas in
class. I watched you learn how to read, become
mathematicians, scientists, inquirers, and more. You played with
others, took turns, worked through problems, and
practiced mindfulness. You smiled, laughed, and filled our days
with learning, excitement, and happiness. You gave me lots of
hugs and high fives, and made me feel proud to be your teacher.
I wish you the best of luck moving forward in K2. See you later,
alligators!
With love,
Teacher Kim
This academic year has passed super fast before I realize it, we
are almost finishing term 3. I have seen so many improvements
from my lovely students in K1 Joy class which are very impressive
and pleasant.
We have seen some changes during terms as well. We get to
meet new friends, and new teachers, we have fun times and
make memories together. Even with these changes, my K1 Joy
students never hesitated to welcome new friendships and they
can excellently adjust to new environment which I am touched.
We may not see some faces from our class next year, and that is
definitely okay because moving and changing are part of
growing. Just like my K1Joy students who are growing bigger
and brighter every day.
Watunyuta Paramee
I am certain that my students are more than ready to go to K2,
even though some of them still need support and motivation. I
believe that you guys will get better and become global citizens
in the future.
Thank you for all of your smiles, sweetness, and hugs. I will miss
everyone of you.
This has been quite the year! We have learned a lot, laughed a lot,
Dear K2 Joy,
I am so thankful for all of the time we’ve gotten to spend together. It
has been a privilege to watch you grow. I love your curiosity, your joy,
your quick humor, and your love for each other. As you continue to
grow, remember how smart, loved, and strong you are. I know you
all can grow up to be world-changers one day! I wish you all the best
in Primary next year. Congratulations on a job well done! You’re ready
for P1!
Ashley McGhee
Thank you to all the K2 Joy families as well. Thank you for your help and
encouragement throughout the year. The support from home really
makes a big difference in the lives of your children. Good luck on your
new adventure in Primary!
With lots and lots of love,
Teacher Ashley
Hello all K2,
I have been so happy to see you growing up each day. It has been so
fun to watch you grow. All this time, we have been happy to be your
teachers. At first, I was worried a bit, thinking if I could teach K2 or
not. I didn’t know if you all would listen to me or not. But really, you
guys did so well. I see you have learned how to respect teachers and
respect others’ opinions too. I know that when you grow up, you’ll be
good boys and good girls. We love you and we’ll miss you! Have a
good time and learn a lot in Primary next year!
Teacher’s message
P1 Love - Communicators, Inquirers and Ristakers!
Daniel Maxwell
P1 Love is a class full of character. Three skills that these students embrace
are communication, inquiring and risk taking. As a result, there is never
a dull moment in school as the students ask questions, share ideas and
embrace new challenges.
The 2021/22 academic year started online and this group of students
rose to the challenge of learning with Google Classroom and a wide
range of digital resources. During that period, study was successful but
of course, they all missed their friends. Since coming back to learning in
school, this class has been celebrating the joys of studying among friends
and have made great progress in their learning. They leave grade one,
smarter and fully prepared for the challenges ahead!
Teacher Daniel
Dear P1, It was a fantastic year for me to work with you. With all the
challenges and struggles, I believe you’ve learned a lot to overcome
them, which will motivate you to be a better person the next day and
lead you to your life’s goals. Enjoy every opportunity and always do
the right thing. I am proud of you and eagerly await your success.
Love you loads,
Teacher’s message
Dear P2 Love,
What a year we have had! From online PCCG challenges to Songkhran
and Karaoke in school. We kept on learning in interesting ways no matter
where we were - this is resilience.
You worked fantastically hard, but were mindful to laugh and joke with
each other all along the way - this is balance.
You warmed our hearts through all the times you helped a friend tie their
shoes, or gave someone a mask when they needed one - this is how you
make the world a better place - this is caring,
You have captured our imagination, and It has been an amazing year with
an absolutely awesome group of students. We are so proud of you - you
are a marvellous bunch, full of character and gumption - this is the spirit
of excellence.
William Cocksedge
Wishing you all of the best in your next chapters.
Teacher Hayden
Dear P2 Love
always believe in yourself. You have the ability to do any kind of work
whether it is easy or tough. So be confident and work hard to achieve
your dream.
Nothing can stop you from reaching your goals as long as you work hard.
Your goals are simply dedication and determination.
Challenge yourself to do better each time and to improve yourself with
each step. Your goals will be met if you put out your best effort.
Thank you for being an amazing student. I know you will do great things
in the future. Best of luck and love you guys.
PRIMARY 3 LOVE

Teacher’s message
As you may already be aware this will be my final year as P3 Love’s homeroom
and literacy teacher, as I was their homeroom and literacy teacher in primary
1 and primary 2 also.
I would like to say that these 3 years have undoubtedly been the happiest
years for me, as I have been privileged to watch the children mature into
independent, respectful, resilient and responsible learners and I feel
immensely proud to have been a small part of these significant stages of their
lives.
Chiragkumar Chavda
Each and every child in P3 Love has improved in all aspects of their
academic learning which has in turn allowed them not only to become
outstanding scholars but also exceptional global citizens too. These are all
fundamental aspects which will allow the children to change their world for
the betterment of not only themselves but for everyone they encounter on
their various journeys in life.
I will miss each and every one of my pupils dearly and I look forward with keen
interest in seeing them develop further as they grow, not only as students but
also as confident, capable and caring individuals.
Good luck P3 Love in all of your future endeavours and I hope that you will
remember Teacher Chaz fondly, as I will never forget you!
Teacher Chaz
Dear P3 Love,
I would like to say that I am so grateful to be your assistant classroom teacher
for 2 years! You are all amazing, caring, principled and polite children. You
have all learnt well from the mistakes you have made. You have always
encouraged and helped each other. Best teamwork ever!
Please remember what I have told you: “Study harder today for a better life
in the future” DO NOT just sit around and do nothing! No one can push you
except YOURSELF!!
I am going to miss you so much!!! I WILL REMEMBER ALL OF YOU.
I will never forget what we had been through together for these past two
PRIMARY 5 LOVE
Teacher’s message
Our class has grown a lot this year and you were challenged in so many ways to
adapt and change. With every new friend that joined us this year, you all did your
best to include them, befriend them and make sure we were on the same team.
There were challenges that we had to work through, things we found out about
each other that we didn’t like at first but eventually found ways to compromise
and work it out – that is what friendship is! You all found the kindness in your
heart to be generous in your words and attitude and for that, I am very proud of
you all!
If there is only one thing you learned this year, I hope that it is KINDNESS. As you
move on to grade 6, I hope you continue to grow in kindness and a generous
attitude toward your friends.
Gloria Leng Shu-Min
Here is a poem to remind you to throw your kindness boomerang each day!
A helping hand, A heartfelt smile.
The Kindness you give, comes back in a while.
Like a BOOMERANG winging through the air,
The people you help send you love and care.
When you show kindness, its very true.
Others show kindness back to you.
Teacher’s message
It has been a pleasure to be the homeroom teacher for P6 Love this
year. Some of the students have been at SISB for many years while some
joined only this year. Your different personalities compliment each other
and made for a fun and interesting year. I was particularly pleased with
how kind and friendly you all were - watching you interact, play, and
strengthen your friendships was a joy. You all showed a great level of
maturity this year, working together and independently to overcome
various challenges.
I am sure your kindness, fun-loving attitudes and determination will
continue to serve you well as you move into middle-school and
English Immersion Programme (EIP)
Teacher’s message
Todd Cikraji
Tonya, Sophia, Namnueng, and Lida - This school year has been an interesting
one for sure. Starting the year with only two students, but ending the year with
four! We enjoyed seeing your development in English and as students here at
the school. Your eagerness to learn showed throughout the year and we are
proud of how well you have done. We know that your hard work this year in EIP
will be an important part of your success for next year and beyond. We, your
teachers, are just here to open the door of a brighter future, but you must enter
it yourself (Chinese Proverb). Never give up on your dream just because of the
time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass away but the happiness of
accomplishing it will last forever. We need to accept that we won’t always make
the right decisions and that we’ll screw up sometimes. Understanding that
failure is not the opposite of success, it’s a part of success.
As this academic year ends, let us leave you with this acrostic poem of the word
EIP.
E = Education is improving the lives of others as you improve yours.
I = Inspire others by becoming the best version of yourself.
P = Positive thinking is training your mind to see the good in every situation.
Enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you apply your English skills
to your classes next year.
Best of Luck,
SECONDARY

GRADE 7
Teacher’s message
Joseph Grzebyk
Overall, this has been an exciting and busy year for our Grade 7
students. We began our journey with the inner workings of
historical inquiry. Students looked at the value of historical
resources and the role they play in shaping our world.
To complement our historical approach, geography played a role
in helping students understand their place in the world and how it
works. We had a fun time doing a variety of projects and activities
that moved students beyond the classroom. Aside from the
curriculum, this year we have grown as a class and met new people
that have added to our overall view of the world and appreciation
for others. I know that many of the friendships made this year will
endure for years to come. It’s nice to know that we have such a
sincere and incredible class moving on to 8th grade next year.
I know they will make a great contribution and add a unique style to
their future endeavors. I look forward to seeing them all next year
and hope that they have a great summer!
GRADE 8
Teacher’s message
8th Grade is the beginning of the end. Every 8th Grader is about to
complete the journey to becoming a high schooler. Our 8th-grade
year at SISB seeks to prepare the students for the rigors of the IGCSE
program and life after. Between the many group projects
throughout the year, field trips into the city of Chiang Mai, learning
in the classrooms, the growth of our ECA program, and more, our
8th graders have learned skills in leadership, sustainability, global
citizenship, digital citizenship, trigonometry (Maths!), Chinese,
English, Thai, and more! The 7th graders that walked into the
classroom the first day are looking more and more like 9th graders.
Thank you for your support throughout this challenging year and we
look forward to the continued growth of these 9th graders!
GRADE 9
Teacher’s message
Greg Stoltz
As the year winds down, our Grade 9 cohort has an abundance of fond
memories to reflect on. Despite environmental challenges, it was
another exciting year for the first batch of IGCSE students. Students
began the year in earnest with eager minds embracing their high school
freedom. Highlights of the year include making Tang Hu Lu for Chinese
New Year, collaborating with other Secondary grade levels in their
bridge project PBL(Project Based Learning), and producing short films
for Science Week. Our boys and girls achieved monumental success at
the International World Scholar’s Cup International Speaking and
Debate competition as they qualified for the Global Round in Bangkok
in September. Furthermore, students embraced an array of after-school
activities such as Chess, Dance, and the introduction of The Duke of
Edinburgh International Award. Good luck to all students! Bonds will
continue to strengthen, and minds challenged as we look forward to
another great year in Grade 10. Good luck to all students!
