Together we step up
Dear colleague,
I’m so excited to be back in Birmingham this September
for the first full National Housing Summit since 2019. I
think this year’s event will be particularly important – not
just because of the chance to reunite as a sector, but as
an opportunity to look ahead, plan and share insight.
We face such uncertain times, with a cost of living
crisis, high energy prices and inflation on the rise. I
know this is already causing hardship for many of your
residents and putting pressure on your organisations.
Navigating this difficult environment while delivering
complex organisational change will require clear, focused
leadership and a strong sense of purpose.
Now more than ever, we need to restate our purpose and
our unique role in supporting communities. The Summit is our
opportunity to do that – to come together as a sector, take
stock and collectively set the tone for the coming year.
Thought-provoking commentary from experts such as
CBI chief economist Rain Newton-Smith will complement
the debate and discussion, while ministers will share their
priorities for housing and its place in the levelling-up
agenda.
I think this will be extraordinarily valuable, and it’s
something I’ve really missed. Welcoming you back to the
Birmingham ICC will be particularly special, and a perfect
setting to reconnect with colleagues and friends.
To be at its best, Summit must bring all parts of the sector
together, and I’m delighted that so many leaders have
already confirmed. I look forward to seeing you there.
Best wishes,
Kate Henderson
