Strong demand
for village homes
SUMMERSET’S Prebbleton
village on Springs Rd is taking
shape, which will see the 35
villas in stage one ready to be
occupied by later this year.
The two/three bedroom villas
are priced from $680,000.
Once finished there will be
about 300 independent homes
including a mix of villas, cottages
and serviced apartments.
Village sales manager Grace
Hickland said demand is strong,
with half of the available villas
already sold.
In spite of global supply chain
issues and economic pressures
affecting the construction industry
in general, the village build
has remained on track .
“We’re excited by the interest
in the village,” Hickland said.
Fundraiser testament to family culture at club
“The amount of emails that we
received from people who had
bought jerseys who have lost either
a mother, sister or an auntie
to breast cancer, that’s why we
went ahead again,” she said.
“We have a senior women’s
team this year, so what better
way to celebrate women in the
club regardless whether you’re
playing or if you’re like me in
the background, we don’t know
if women are out there going
through this, and this is a way
that we can support them.”
Marunuii’s husband, club
president Jeromy Knowler, said
his men at the club really get
behind the cause too.
“They really understand what
it’s all about, and they were
pretty humbled when we heard
we made eight and a half grand
off the jerseys,” Knowler said.
“I’m really proud of the boys
that are going to get up there tonight
and auction themselves off
too to make a bit more money
for the cause.”
The fundraiser was testament
to the family culture at Prebbleton,
such as hosting all senior
teams on a Thursday night for
dinner after training, they said.
“It’s probably something that
if we tried 10 years ago wouldn’t
have been much of it, but I
think because our culture is
really good the boys just love it,”
Knowler said.
Said Marunui: “We’ve always
said that we don’t know how to
coach rugby, but we know how
to wrap our arms around them,
and sort of nurture them and
have them feel safe that this is
their home.”
