MULTIPRESS EASY PUSH 

Problem definition and material types 

Light and expanding materials such as polystyrene, 

elastomers, insulating materials and 

composite products compact enormously and 

are difficult to empty. Even with extremely wedging 

materials such as bumpers and rear luggage 

cover, container emptying is often difficult. 

Our solution

that allows excellent compaction and at the 

same time enables very good emptying. The movable 

side walls, which are controlled by a hydraulic 

system, push the compacted or wedged 

material forward and thus facilitate emptying.

NEW PRODUCT 

Tamper-proof recycling waste collection with RFID chip 

ECO REVOLVER DRUM WITH RFID RECOGNITION 

Material type: Plastic waste 

Objective 

Our customer commissioned the development and 

implementation of a tamper-proof collection system 

for recyclable plastics using trash bags (fee-financed) 

in 3 volume sizes. It is to be ensured that only 

registered collection bags can be thrown in by means 

of RFID recognition in the respective volume size. 

Our solution 

The new ECO revolving drum has 3 different-sized insertion 

recesses. It is planned to recognise the correct 

bag size via an RFID chip contained in the collection 

bag. When the bag is approached, the sensor in 

MULTIPRESS ECO recognises which volume is to be 

disposed of. The corresponding skip with the correct 

volume limit of max. 30 l, 60 l or 110 l is selected. This 

procedure ensures that only the registered collection 

bag for which payment has been made can be disposed 

of. Double use or misuse is avoided. 

On the one hand, this collection system creates transparency 

of the recycling loop and, on the other hand, 

tamperproofness, since in many European countries 

the disposal of recyclable materials is financed directly 

by the citizens. 

The MULTIPRESS ECO system, which has been proven 

over decades, creates the best conditions for 

guaranteeing the customer independent and safe 

use. It is a closed system and reports any errors online 

to individually adjustable receivers. The system 

only needs a power supply and is plug & play ready 

for operation.

Three new versions in the range 

MULTIPRESS BALING PRESSES 

The product range of baling presses has been expanded 

by three additional models. Whether a single-chamber 

system when space is limited or a multichamber 

system for the in-house sorting station - the 

balers reduce the waste volume by up to 80 %. As a 

result, the waste takes up less storage space and has 

to be collected less often. The perfect solution for 

smaller and larger waste volumes in confined spaces 

for supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, workshops, 

etc. 

MP 500 S - with additional bagging device for residual 

waste and small parts 

MP 500 S is the space-saving solution for compacting 

various materials such as cardboard boxes, paper, 

fruit baskets, foil, cans, PET bottles or tins and barrels 

up to 60 litres. 

A new feature is the additional bag device, which also 

allows small parts and residual waste to be compacted 

cleanly and quickly. 

MP 500 S/II - the multi-chamber system for sorting 

and collecting in one. 

The practical multi-chamber system offers all the 

possibilities of the MP 500 S. The additional second 

chamber enables sorting of two types of waste. Expansion 

with additional chambers is possible. 

MP 836 - high bale weights in the smallest of spaces 

The strong and highly efficient vertical baling presses 

for compacting cardboard and plastics guarantees 

high pressure forces and fast pressing cycles despite 

low driving powers. The results are dense and heavy 

bales produced with minimum energy consumption. 

MP 500 S - for cardboard and plastics with an integrated 

bag attachment for residual waste or small parts 

MP 500 S/II - sorting and pressing of two different

MULTIPRESS GREEN WASTE - FOR THE CENTRALISED 

COLLECTION OF COMPOSTABLE GARDEN WASTE 

Material type: Lawn cuttings, shrub cuttings, other 

compostable garden waste 

Objective: 

Public collection of green waste, which is only to be 

operated with an access control system 

Initial situation: 

The amount of green waste in housing estates, allotment 

garden sites, parks, green waste collection 

sites, etc. often poses a challenge to municipalities 

and citizens. But where to put the bio waste? 

Our solution 

The MULTIPRESS 1.9 is available with an equipment 

version especially for green waste collection: 

• Automatic opening of the press hood and press 

start only with existing ID card 

• Reinforced construction 

• Quiet-running pump as standard for operation close 

to residential areas 

• User-friendly operation with additional safety features, 

e.g. safety rail 

• Liquid proof version 

• Optional: Spray system for smell absorbing, liquid 

drainage by means of ball valve, dumping system 

for container collection 

From spring to autumn, gardens and parks accumulate 

huge amounts of green waste. But where to put it? 

Control of user groups and drop-off times is possible 

via the falconic web platform: 

• Identification via a personalised identification system, 

e.g. citizen card. 

• The user group can be defined individually via the 

online tool falconic. 

• Statistics and protocols can be called up by the 

operator at any time. 

• Disposal of green waste is possible 24/7 or at defined 

times 

Already in use in the Swiss municipality 

of Niederhelfenschwil for one year:

Underground compacting stations offer the possibility 

of collecting and compacting recyclable and residual 

waste inconspicuously and in a space-saving 

manner underground. 

With their innovative design, Pöttinger press containers 

cut a fine figure in any disposal location. However,

This is the case with the Smart City Project in the 

Swiss municipality of Marly. Here, the compaction of 

the waste takes place invisibly underground using our

PRESS CONTAINER WITH INTEGRATED EXTINGUISHING 

SYSTEM

The new Pöttinger compactors, shown here with a 

high-quality powder coating in bright orange, enable 

clean and reliable waste collection in Greece. These 

are the first compactors in Greece with an integrated 

extinguishing system, which has been a standard 

feature at Pöttinger since 2018. Pöttinger was able to 

convince with the online control tool falconic and the 

high filling weights.

ASFINAG 

PÖTTINGER ensures that rest areas are kept clean 

In an ASFINAG pilot project, the PÖTTINGER ECO ensures 

optimal waste disposal at three motorway service 

areas. 

According to its own information, ASFINAG (the Austrian 

federal agency for road operation) collects more 

than 8,000 tons of waste per year, which causes costs 

of up to 13 million euros per year. Carelessly thrown 

away rubbish, mainly plastic packaging, also poses a 

high risk to road safety. 

Overfilled garbage cans can also be avoided, because 

the Multipress ECO reports via falconic, PÖTTINGER‘s 

online administration program, when it is necessary 

to empty it.

RASTPLÄTZEN 

The Multipress ECO press container facilitates the 

correct disposal of residual waste and plastic bottles 

and creates a clean and odor-free collection point. 

Thanks to the 5:1 compression on site, the maximum 

container volume is used. On average, ASFINAG saves 

four pick-up journeys, which significantly relieves 

traffic and the environment and saves logistics costs. 

The Multipress ECO is equipped with two different 

options to collect waste. The pressing process starts 

automatically. LED lighting provides additional security.

HEATING TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST HARGASSNER 

RELIES ON PRODUCTS FROM PÖTTINGER 

The biomass heating technology specialist Hargassner 

from Weng in Upper Austria manufactures pellet, 

wood chip and wood log heating systems and is 

considered a pioneer for environmentally conscious 

heating. Hargassner has been a satisfied customer of 

Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik since 2006 and is also 

relying on the quality of the Pöttinger brand for the 

current 18,000 m² plant expansion. 

„We have been a satisfied customer for 

many years and have once again decided 

for products from Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik 

for our plant expansion,“ says 

Managing Director Markus Hargassner 

with conviction. 

A proper disposal concept with optimised processes 

increases morale among employees to separate 

waste. The high degree of compaction provided by 

the Pöttinger press containers and screw compactors 

helps to reduce the number of pick-up tours by the 

waste disposal company and thus saves CO 2 . 

Simple retrofitting due to modular design 

The modular design of Pöttinger compactors, where 

all parts are screw-mounted, allows easy retrofitting 

if required. In order to correspond to the new disposal 

concept, the existing compactors were also retrofitted 

with an attached tipping device. 

Modern production requires a well thought-out disposal 

concept 

At Hargassner, the waste produced is already sorted 

in the production hall, collected in containers directly 

at the point of origin and centrally dumped and compacted 

in the designated presses via the mobile rail 

tipping device. For this purpose, two press containers 

are available for residual waste and foils as well as a 

stationary screw compactor for cardboard.

RECYCLING SPECIALIST BÜCHL IN HUNGARY WAS 

SUPPLIED WITH 10 MACHINES 

Büchl Hungaria Kft is one of Hungary‘s leading recycling 

and waste disposal specialists. With 250 employees, 

ten recycling plants and almost 40 vehicles, 

the company specialises in the disposal of industrial 

and commercial waste.

Büchl Hungaria relies on proven quality from Pöttinger 

for the implementation of a major order from a wellknown 

toy manufacturer. 

Ten machines are used for the collection of cardboard, 

plastics and commercial waste for floor, building and 

ramp feeding, equipped with a chute for wall connection 

or hopper for ramp. 

Digitalisation via falconic 

All machines were equipped with the falconic system 

to ensure optimised filling levels and efficient logistics. 

„The technical support and advice from the 

sales manager was there right from the start. 

Even though time was a little tight, the job was 

completed on time and in the quality we are 

used to from Pöttinger. The cooperation on site 

with our team was perfect. We are looking forward

New user identification realised 

QR-IDENTSYSTEM FOR COMPACTORS 

For installations in public areas, Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik 

offers the option of upgrading the compactors 

with an identification system that allows user 

recognition for a limited group of people. 

The existing possibilities of an identification system, 

e.g. by transponder card/tag, ATM card or citizen card, 

have now been extended by QR code recognition. With 

the QR code, e.g. on a mobile phone, operators can 

issue or revoke authorisations via the falconic website 

without user card programming. The process is 

very simple and timesaving.

QUICK ACCESS 

For faster and easier access to a specific machine 

protocol, a new icon „Quick Access“ was integrated 

into falconic on the machine overview of the location 

map. A click on the icon as shown in the picture 

and the user is immediately taken to the machine 

log.

for access authorisation.

Continuous improvement of the software is essential 

for the perfect functioning of Pöttinger presses 

and for satisfied customers. That is why the Pöttinger 

mechatronics team is constantly working on improving 

the software processes in the background. 

In the next few weeks, the new Presscontainer software 

updates will be rolled out, which include the 

following innovations: 

Optimised dial-up procedure to the best possible network 

Until now, the first available network was used for the 

data connection to the press. Now we always dial into 

the best available network. 

Monitoring the battery function 

Continuous monitoring of the voltage in the batteries 

installed in the falconic module allows immediate detection 

of whether they are damaged or too weak. 

Revision of the emptying detection 

The detection of whether a press has been emptied 

runs via a gyro sensor, which becomes active when 

the press is tilted. To avoid false alarms, the press 

must now move an additional 150 m away from the 

location for the change in position to be counted as 

an emptying. 

General functional improvements 

Faster start-up process, addition of a watchdog to 

prevent the software from freezing, adjustments to 

the GPS reception.

2 factors are decisive for the proper functioning of the 

online control module falconic: 

1. sufficient GPRS mobile phone reception for the 

transmission of the pre-full, full and error messages 

and 

2. sufficient GPS reception for transmission of the 

press container location. 

Only if GPRS and GPS reception are available, a message 

with the corresponding location information is 

transmitted. 

In underground garages, halls and unterground 

areas, sufficient GPS reception is often not available, 

so that the machine cannot connect to the location. 

With the new function of manual geo-positioning, the 

GPS point can be set manually with the smartphone.

Green gas made of biogenic waste 

PÖTTINGER GAS PROCESSING CLOSES THE CIRCLE 

Biogas from the fermentation of biogenic waste is an 

important pillar on the way to CO 2 neutrality. However, 

biogas can only be used as a fuel for gas-powered 

vehicles and fed into the gas grid, so mixed with natural 

gas, when upgraded to natural gas quality. 

Pöttinger gas treatment closes an important gap 

Depending on the feedstock, the methane content in 

biogas is around 50-60%. In gas treatment plants, 

such as those from Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik, 

the quality of the biogas is upgraded to the quality of 

natural gas by drying, desulphurising and concentrating 

the methane content to 97 %.

With its compact design (20-foot container) and a raw 

biogas processing capacity of 30 m³/h, the Pöttinger 

gas treatment system is specially designed for smaller 

gas
