summit art glass no. 594 duck covered dish Summit Art Glass Duck Covered Dish was AT FIRST a reproduction of the Tiffin Duck on Wavy Base. Russ Vogelsong acquired the original Duncan Miller Duck mold from Tiffin Glass Company in 1980. Vogelsong began producing the Duck in 1984. He also added his 'V' in a ring logo to the mold. These early ducks had extremely coarse lid rims (edges of the lids and tails were rough). They also had Yellow Glass eyes with dark pupils. Bases marked 'V' in a ring. The repair mark previously in Tiffin's Duck mold is almost non existent (I can see the lines under the Summit Duck tail with a magnifying glass). SECONDLY, Russ Vogelsong acquired the Westmoreland Oval Duck on Wavy Base mold in 1985. He did not remove the WESTMORELAND III logo from the base and began to produce this Duck as was. Unfortunately, he did not add a 'V' in a ring to these Ducks. This makes identification difficult. Sellers often consider these to be authentic Westmoreland Ducks. They are not. Note: Authentic Westmoreland Ducks on Wavy Bases have the old W over G logo, not the WESTMORELAND III logo. To make things more confusing, Rosso Wholesale also acquired the Westmoreland Duck mold. Rosso's Ducks have the original W over G mark along with 'R' in a keystone. Later made Summit Art Glass Ducks have faintly stippled to barely stippled lid rims/ edges with Yellow or Brown glass eyes. 8" long. 2005 Summit Newsletter Announcement of the 1984 Grand Opening of Summit Art Glass Factory and Gift Shop.
