The newsletter is the mirror which reflects all aspects of
creativity and achievements of the pupil-teachers in

individual has innate capabilities which remain latent
but they develop when the favorable conditions are
provided. Our Institute is incessantly striving to develop
and nurture talent of the trainees. I commend the
teachers of the Institute, who have striving towards this
end. This newsletter is a flowering of the efforts of our

Message from the Principal‟s Desk…..
It is indeed a proud moment for all of us to bring out the 9 th
issue of R.K.T.T.I newsletter under the very able guidance,
motivation and inspiration of our Director, Mrs. Kanta
Aggarwal. I am especially thankful to our Chairman Mr. I.P.
Aggarwal and Dr. S.K. Bhatia for their unstinted support
towards our mission for excellence in education. In the modern
society, Institute is not a place for merely filling student‟s mind
with facts, figures and information. It is a place where they find
opportunity to develop their creative potential and latent
abilities for meeting future challenges and serving society. Our
devoted teachers have been nurturing the fertile brains of
trainees. The Institute has successfully molded the careers of
many trainees in the past. I sincerely hope that our Institute
goes a long way in bringing up the future teachers of this great

WORKSHOP ON HAPPINESS
Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute organized a virtual
workshop on „HAPPINESS‟ on 26 th May 2021, for the pupil
teachers, in order to emphasize the role of happiness in an
individual‟s life. During the current pandemic situation,
everyone is facing emotional instability and stress, so the
workshop played the role of a guiding star towards happiness.
Our Principal Madam, Mrs. Seema Sehgal heartily welcomed
the resource person, Mrs. Anju Bala Rohilla , a Delhi govt.
school teacher. She addressed all of us
about the different aspects of Happiness and its pertinence in
teaching. The aim of the workshop was to train the mind to be
more focused. She emphasized on the importance of happiness
in every one‟s life in today‟s materialistic and complex world.
During the workshop, she promoted the fact that inner
satisfaction can be achieved only by the way of happiness &
not through monetary terms. She further talked of „Happiness
Class‟ in various Delhi govt. school curricula, and how efforts
are being made in order to inculcate the moral values in the
students and to allow them to live a peaceful & satisfactory
life. Spiritual & psychological satisfaction was also given
much importance as a means to achieve happiness. The
workshop was considered to be very fruitful for the teachers as
well as trainees.
SESSION ON CRITICAL THINKING
Our institute organized a virtual session on Critical Thinking on
28th May, 2021 given by Mrs. Kiran Toppo, the resource person
of the session and also one of the eminent teachers of our
institute.bThe aim of the session was to make the pupil teachers
aware about the importance of critical thinking and also to
provide the ways to improve thinking skills. She highlighted the
role of critical thinking by conducting various games in the
session itself. Two games were played by the pupil teachers as
well as by the teacher educators: word chain and question
answer round. The first game was really interesting in which a
student had to speak any random word and the next student had
to speak the word related to the first one with the blink of an
eye, without stopping, and the game was continued till the last
student‟s turn. The second game was the question-answer round,
questions asked were from the daily life situations and from the
social environment, students had to give answers within a few
seconds, showcasing pressure in their brain which led to brain
storming. These games highlighted the need to pay attention to
imagination, fantasizing, observing to improve the thinking
skills. The session was really stupendous and commendable. The
role of critical thinking was presented in a very effective and
interactive way. It not only inspired the pupil teachers to
improve their thought process but also taught them to teach the
students in a joyful and playful way.
Workshop on Zumba
We always try to imbibe academic excellence and co-scholastic value
through various programs in our institute. Zumba is a form of workout
which combines all elements of fitness like cardio, conditioning
balance, flexibility, energy booster, along with that , there is a feeling
of exhilaration and amazement once one leaves the session. Our
institute organized Zumba workshop, which is a dance based exercise.
Trained Zumba instructor Ms. Abhisarika Bains took two days‟
workshop on 2 nd and 3 rd June 2021. Zumba requires reactivity and
dynamic motion; our students followed the instructor's instructions
which challenge the brain and move in all different directions. She
selected dance steps from a variety of styles, including salsa, samba,
hip-hop, tango etc. Many Zumba songs were played by her and our
trainees imitated the steps of the instructor; they were happy and
enthusiastic while performing the activity. After the zumba workout
trainees were instructed to do stretching to boost flexibility, reduce the
risk of injury, and decrease muscle tension in the body. Some
instructions were given to the students before Zumba session; shoes
for zumba should have few or no grips on the soles so you can pivot
easily without sticking to the floor, so it is suggested to them to wear
right kind of shoes during the session. Ms. Abhisarika also put light
on the benefits of Zumba, she explained that zumba is helpful for
total body toning, boosts the heart health. We not only get aerobic
benefits but also get anaerobic benefits that help to maintain a good
cardiovascular respiratory system.
The workshop created an enthusiastic environment and motivated
everyone to make exercise a part of their life. This workshop brought
recreation, entertainment and fun all together.
WORKSHOP ON PIDILITE FEVICRYL
R.K.T.T.I organised a six day online “Art & Craft” workshop
held from 27.06.21 to 29.06.21, in two phases, for D.P.S.E. 1st
year and from 7.06.21 to 9.06.21 for D.El.Ed 1st year. It has
been a great success under the guidance of Mrs. Kanta
Aggarwal (Director, R.K.T.T.I) and Mrs. Seema Sehgal
(Principal, R.K.T.T.I) and all the faculty members. Mrs. Hema
Mehra, a freelancer artist from Pidilite Industries Ltd. was the
resource person who shared her expertise in „Mandala Art,
Metal Embossing, Tholu bommalata, Fabric Colouring, Clay
moulding and Decoupage Art. The Objective of the workshop
was to prepare pupil teachers to conduct various cultural and
art related activities in their real practice and to develop their
creativity, aesthetic values and appreciate the beauty of nature.
The workshop created an enthusiastic environment and
motivated everyone to depict their talents and creativity and
bring out the best from them. This workshop brought
recreation, entertainment and fun for all. A lot of ideas,
initiatives and experiences were mutually shared. At the end of
the workshop, e-certificates were given to the students.
WORKSHOP ON STRESS MANAGEMENT
An online workshop on Stress Management was organized for
the trainees and the lecturers of R.K.T.T.I on 17 th July 2021.
Ms. Surmeet Kaur, was the resource person. She explained the
stress and its management. The workshop was meant
exclusively for our trainees, to learn how to manage stress in
their daily lives. The physical comforts are increasing day by
day but at the cost of mental stress. Students spend most of
their time in college, due to continuous mental work, peer
pressure, family problems and excess use of mobile phones,
mind becomes stressful. They may have headaches, they are
tired, and they are so exhausted that they just want to crawl
into bed and sleep. She gave popular examples of stress
management, which included, yoga which not only releases
mental stress, but also provides strength to the body and mind.
Relaxation & meditation bring sound sleep and calmness to
the mind. All of the above tips given by Ms. Surmeet Kaur
were very useful and effective to reduce the stress.
Discussions in between and at the end of the session resolved
doubts and queries of the participants.
SESSION ON FUTURE PROSPECTS
Our institute organized a session on Future Prospects on 24th
July, 2021 for the pupil teachers. The session was initiated by
the resource person, Miss Simran Kaur Dhillon, a teacher at
KVS, Rajasthan and also a bright alumnus of our Institute.
The session was held virtually on Google meet. Although our
teachers always discuss with us about the Government jobs
opportunities and the way of cracking the CTET, she also
discussed about CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test): the
most common pathway to enter the esteemed profession of
teaching. Her session helped all the pupil teachers in
understanding the exam pattern and provided a clear idea
about the different sections of the exam, the number of
questions asked, time duration, and marking scheme as well.
Thus, it is crucial to prepare the syllabus and crack the exam
with tantalizing scores; all the information, methods and
procedures provided by her to prepare for CTET would be
helpful for all the trainees. She also shared the knowledge that
would certainly help the pupil-teachers to get government
jobs. We often get confused about selecting the right book for
preparation of CTET. She also guided us about the right books
that would be helpful in CTET preparation. At last she also
solved the queries of the pupil teachers regarding CTET
examination. The session was very motivational and
interactive.
ONLINE DISCUSSION ON CONSERVATION OF WATER
Our institute organised an online discussion programme on
water conservation on 31.07.21. The main aim of this
discussion was to remind us all about the need to save water as
a precious source imperative for our survival. Our Principal
Mrs. Seema Sehgal reiterated the need not only of conserving
water but also spoke at length on how to conserve water by
stressing upon the fact that each drop of water is precious.
Pupil teachers‟ who had participated in discussion also
provided few suggestions such as rain-water harvesting, take
shorter showers , install water-saving shower heads, Check
faucets and pipes for leaks, are the ways to conserve water. We
must ensure availability of water for the future generation.
Life without water is not possible. We need it for many
things including cleaning, cooking, using the washroom, and
more. Moreover, we need clean water to lead a healthy life.
At last the discussion concluded on the note that water
conservation is the most cost effective, environmentally sound
way to reduce our demand for water and so each one of us
must do our bit towards improving water management to
enhance optimum use of water.
WORKSHOP ON INCLUSION OF STUDENTS WITH
DISABILITIES
An online workshop on „Inclusion of Students with
Disabilities‟ was conducted on 7 th August , 2021 by
Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute. The resource
person, Dr. Hemlata, director of National Centre for
Disability studies in IGNOU New Delhi, shared her valuable
experience on inclusion and inclusive education. Shri I.P.
Aggarwal (Chairman Triveni Educational and Social welfare
society), Mrs. Kanta Aggarwal (Director, R.K.T.T.I) and Dr.
S.K. Bhatia (Chairman, R.K.T.T.I) motivated us to attend
these types of educational workshops. Our Principal Madam
Mrs. Seema Sehgal welcomed Dr. Hemlata. Dr Hemlata
explained the concept of inclusion, different types of
inclusions and laid more emphasis on „inclusion with
disabilities‟.She highlighted the need and importance of
practicing and promoting inclusion of disabled students in the
classroom. Inclusion is learning together, which helps in the
empowerment of the society and thus the development of the
nation. This empowerment comes with great responsibility
and accountability. Pupil teachers must accept and understand
the differences and diversities among students so that they can
learn various life skills at the time of teaching. She
emphasised that inclusive education is a key in building
inclusive communities.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
The Independence Day of India, which is celebrated

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
Orientation programme was held on 4 th September 2021, for
the students of D.EL.ED & DPSE 1 st Years. To begin with, the
term orientation is closely related with the term adaptation.
Adaptation is the process of familiarization with the new
organization/institute and changes its behavior in accordance
with the requirements and regulations of the culture of the
organization /institute. On this day students of both D.EL.ED

Debate Competition on „Are Online classes Boon or Bane?‟
We had organised a debate competition on 25/9/2021for the trainees of D.EL.Ed
and D.P.S.E. I and II year. The topic of debate was „Are Online classes Boon or
Bane?‟ 20 pupil teachers‟ had been selected from each class. They had
participated enthusiastically. 10 P.T. were in favour and 10 were against of the
topic, each individual had been allotted 5 minutes of time to speak.
“Change is the end result of all true learning.” But what happens when learning is
itself goes through a sudden change? The Participants presented their viewpoints
in favour and against the topic. Today, our education system has gone through a
paradigm shift not just in terms of resources and content, but also in terms of
mode. E-books replaced the hardcovers, Google Classrooms replaced project
files, tablet screens replaced whiteboards, and classroom interaction replaced by
virtual meetings, the COVID-19 crisis disrupted many sectors, including the
education sector. Among many casualties of COVID-19, there is also demise of
the traditional classrooms. While online courses have existed even before the
pandemic, they served a different purpose to learners, like granting them
accessibility to modules in case they do not have means or supplementing what
individuals were taught in physical classrooms. Online mode was never meant to
be the fundamental mode of learning back then. Many Challenges were also
faced by students‟ as well as teachers‟ like:
Lack of face to face interaction
Neither regularity nor discipline
Increased dropout rate
Challenges in Technology
Like every coin has two sides, there are bright aspects to this transition as well,
which cannot be ignored. It is a matter of our good fortune that we are born in the
digital age where we have resources and means to derive the benefit of online
education. It offers flexibility as you can learn at your own pace with the help of
recorded videos. It also caters to your comfort level and enables you to study
from your home.
Challenges break us or make us. The pandemic period was the greatest challenge
that mankind had ever experienced before.
MEHNDI COMPETITION

D.EL.ED & DPSE 1 st & 2 nd year on 23/10/2021. It was
conducted one day before the eve of Karva Chauth, in the

WORKSHOP ON NEW EDUCATION POLICY ( NEP -2020)
A workshop on New Education Policy (NEP -2020) was taken by
Prof. Chand Kiran Saluja, reputed scholar and educator on 18 th
December 2021. He shared his valuable thoughts about NEP 2020
with trainees and inspired them to understand the concept of New
Education Policy.
NEP 2020 focuses on five pillars: Affordability, Accessibility,
Quality, Equity, and Accountability – to ensure continual learning.
It has been crafted consistent with the needs of the citizens as a
demand for knowledge in society and economy called for a need to
acquire new skills on a regular basis.
He said that the aim of NEP 2020 is holistic development of child and
to discover new things. He further explained that the gap between the
current state of learning outcomes and what is required must be
bridged through undertaking major reforms that bring the highest
quality, equity, and integrity into the system, from early childhood
care and education through higher education. The aim must be for
India to have an education system by 2040 that is second to none, with
equitable access to the highest-quality education for all learners
regardless of social or economic background.
The focal point of this workshop was to make teachers‟ and learners‟
aware about the policy and its need. The NEP 2020 envisions an India
Centred education system that directly contributes to the evolution of
our nation enduring into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society
by giving them a top-class quality of education.”
One of the key thrust areas of NEP 2020 is to encourage high R&D
investments from government and private sectors. This will encourage
innovation and innovative mind sets. To facilitate the same, there is a
need for a strong industry commitment and close intervention with
academia for industry led skilling / up skilling / reskilling.
The workshop was very knowledgeable and session was highly
interactive.
WORKSHOP ON INTERNATIONAL PHONETIC ALPHABET
(IPA)
Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute organized a virtual
workshop on International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) on 15 th
January 2022, for the pupil teachers. The session was initiated
by the resource person, Mrs. Rashmi Tyagi, one of the
distinguished Lecturers of our institute. The workshop was an
enriching experience and dealt with nuances of language
teaching. The focal point of the workshop was International
Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), it is a system where each symbol is
associated with a particular English sound. By using IPA, we
can know exactly how to pronounce a certain word in English.
She said that IPA helps in improving English pronunciation
and build more confidence while speaking second language
i.e. English. Pupil Teachers participated enthusiastically when
she asked them to pronounce some words like „Father‟,
„Mother‟, „Brother‟ and „Sister‟ as before the session many of
them were not aware that „R‟ at the end of words is kept silent
in speaking but in writing we write it according to British
accent. Many examples were given and symbols for sound
production were taught. She further added that as language
teacher, we must create our own teaching materials to help
students to understand language skills i.e. „Listening,
Speaking, Reading and Writing‟ (L,S,R,W). The session was
very interactive and enriched the pupil-teachers experience.
WORKSHOP ON DRAWING AND SHADING
A one-day virtual art workshop was organised by our institute,
on 22 nd January 2022. This gave hands-on experience to the
students to go beyond their horizons to explore and to create
something new. Mrs. Neelu, one of the innovative faculty
members of R.K.T.T.I, was the resource person for the topic
„Drawing and Shading‟. It was the combined session for all the
classes D.El.Ed and D.P.S.E. 1 st and 2 nd year. Mrs. Seema
Sehgal, Principal ignited the trainees‟ mind with her words and
inspired them to be ready for learning the skills for their
development. Mrs. Neelu started the workshop by introducing
the students about different types of media in art, like types of
pencils used, oil pastels, soft pastels, water colors,
demonstration on still life, which was a knowledgeable
exposure on the techniques of „Drawing and Shading‟.
Students were also familiarized with a wide range of shading
skills, such as Pencil shading, Hatching, Cross-Hatching,
Contour Lines, Weaving, and Stippling, Scribbling, Quick
shading and a lot many other things. The students were highly
motivated to learn, explore and grow. Both the teachers as well
as the students took active part in the workshop. Pupil teachers
were filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. The cooperation,
discipline and punctuality reflected between both the students
and the mentor as well.

our vision, of creating a better and brighter India, becomes a reality.
What followed was but a visual treat that showcased both the tradition
and culture of India along with the vibrancy of the students, who

HEALTH & FITNESS SESSION
Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute organized a one day
virtual „Fitness Session‟ on 29 th January 2022- One of the
best recreational activities for students during this pandemic
situation. All the students actively participated through virtual
mode under the guidance of fitness trainer, Mrs. Meenu
Monga, of our institute. She taught them the different postural
exercises, like Padasana, mudrasana, Vajrasana etc. Health is
wealth, rightly said by Mrs. Meenu. She further added that
good health is an essential aspect of human life and also a
cornerstone. One can live life to the fullest only by maintaining
good health. We should always remember that a healthy mind
can only be gained by being healthy. Mrs. Seema Sehgal,
principal ignited the trainees‟ minds with her words „Yoga
adds years to our life, and life to our years.‟ Her words
inspired us that good health is a boon to our body. It helps in
physical as well as mental, emotional, spiritual and moral
development. We can achieve the goal of all-round
development by regular exercises and Yoga. The fitness session
.
was an enriching and relaxing experience for the pupilteachers
and it made them aware of their health and encouraged
them to include fitness workouts in their daily routine.
Basant Panchami Celebration (Saraswati Puja)
Basant panchmi is an occasion which marks the advent of the
spring season and is also celebrated to worship Saraswati, the
Goddess of knowledge and wisdom. Basant Panchmi marks
the arrival of the spring season in India. Saraswati is the
Goddess of knowledge, music, learning and art. It is believed
that without her blessings ,the world would be surrounded by
ignorance. The trainees of D.EL.Ed and D.P.S.E. attended the
virtual celebration on 5 th February 2022 in yellow dress and
offered yellow coloured flowers to Goddess Saraswati , to
pray and attain blessings from Goddess Saraswati to reach the
epitome of knowledge. Our Principal Mrs.Seema Sehgal put
light on the importance of Saraswati Puja. She told the pupil
teachers‟ that Saraswati Puja is performed to seek the
blessings of Goddess Saraswati, who believed to be the
consort of Lord Brahma, who created the Universe with her
knowledge. Maa Saraswati sits on a swan and has a peacock
on her side.
All the trainees enjoyed the day, enlightened by the blessings
of Maa Saraswati.
WORKSHOP ON NEW EDUCATION POLICY ( NEP -2020)
A workshop on New Education Policy (NEP -2020) was organized for
trainees and faculty in Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute by Dr.
S.K. Bhatia, former Associate Professor, CIE and also the Chairman of
R.K.T.T.I. on 18 th February 2022. He shared his valuable thoughts
about NEP 2020 with trainees and inspired them to understand the
concept of New Education Policy. He further explained what is
5+3+3+4 pattern of education:
The focal point of this workshop was to make teachers‟ and learners‟ aware
about the policy and its need. The NEP 2020 envisions an India Centred
education system that directly contributes to the evolution of our nation enduring
into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society by giving them a top-class
quality of education.” One of the key thrust areas of NEP 2020 is to encourage
high R&D investments from government and private sectors. This will
encourage innovation and innovative mindsets. To facilitate the same, there is a
need for a strong industry commitment and close intervention with academia for
industry led skilling / up skilling / reskilling. The workshop was very
knowledgeable and session was highly interactive.
Workshop on „Art of Decoupage‟
Our institute organized workshop on „art of decoupage‟ by
Mrs. Hema Mehta, fevicryl instructor on 19.02.2022.
Decoupage is a very old and popular Art form originated in
Europe region but later on adopted by China and other regions
of the world. Decoupage derived from French word
„Decouper‟ which means „cut from something‟.The
demonstration method was opted for the workshop. The
required material was distributed among the students by the
instructor, such as decoupage papers, tissues, gesso based
paint, decoupage glue and varnish. She also explained the
process that how to apply the above given materials to recreate
the old objects into new one. Then Step by step process was
initiated by the students. Ms. Hema suggested that almost any
surface can be used to create a decoupage project. Few
Suitable surfaces including wood, terracotta, tin, cardboard,
glass and plastics are also suitable for this technique. With this
art form, students were also encouraged to reuse the waste
material such as old bottles, plates and boxes. They have
guided that how to decorate these items and use those in a
beautiful manner for decoration purpose. She encouraged the
students for their laudable performances. Students were
provided with certificates to appreciate their efforts and
participation.
Folk Dance Competition
“Don‟t focus on the steps, just focus on yourself. And rock
the floor while you dance.”
We organised folk dance competition on 26/2/2022 for the
trainees of D.EL.Ed and D.P.S.E. I and II year. Among all the
classes 10 pupil teachers‟ enthusiastically participated in the
competition. Folk dances are performed at every cultural
occasion like festivals, marriages, welcoming guests, to
celebrate harvest season and arrival of other seasons and
religious events. Most folk dances have evolved naturally over
a very long period going back several generations. They
weren‟t created or designed arbitrarily by a single person or
group of people. Folk dance is also known by other names
such as ethnic dance, traditional dance, or vernacular dance.
A Folk Dance is unique in the sense that every community/
state/ country has its own form of folk dance. It is necessary to
give some time to students‟ to relax and nothing is better than
a dance. The competition among students‟ was very tough and
it was very hard to take any decision about the competition.
But after the discussion amongst judges (faculty), the result of
the competition was declared.
Result of the Folk dance Competition is:
1 st Position: Ms. Harshita Rathore (D.El.Ed II YEAR)
2 nd Position: Ms. Bhawana Bhasin (D.P.S.E. I YEAR)
3 rd Position: Ms. Suman (D.P.S.E. II YEAR)
4 th Position: Ms. Sana Bano (D.El.Ed I YEAR)
WORKSHOP ON OPTIMIZING STUDENTS‟
ACHIEVEMENT
A workshop on Optimizing Students‟ Achievement was organized for
trainees and faculty in Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute by Dr.
S.K. Bhatia, former Associate Professor, CIE and also the Chairman
of R.K.T.T.I. on 4 th March 2022.Students‟ Academic performance is
the outcome of education- the extent to which a student, teacher or
institution has achieved their educational goals. This is commonly
measured by examinations or continuous assessment. He explained
that Optimization is the selection of a best element (with regard
to some criteria) from some set of available alternatives. The aim
of the session was to make the pupil teachers and lecturers aware
about the importance of Optimizing Students‟ Achievement also to
motivate them to improve their teaching skills. He also explained
some strategies to help Optimizing Students‟ Achievement:
• Establish a clear focus and a strategic framework of core beliefs,
effective practices and goals for improving students‟ achievement
• Provide instructional coherence and support
• Provide high-quality data that link students‟ achievement
• Optimize Resources With Flexibility, Autonomy and

WORKSHOP ON EDUCATION BEYOND BOOKS
A workshop on Education beyond Books was organized for trainees
and faculty in Ramakrishna Teacher Training Institute by Dr. Prabhat
Kaushik, Master Trainer, CBSE, Ministry of HRD, Government of
India, Director General, Zee Learn Ltd, International Trainer &
Assessor, Motivator, Educational Catalyst and International on 16 th
April 2022. The system of valuing students‟ exposure outside the
academic front is something that we need to emulate in our regimen of
teaching-learning-training. Learning beyond the books takes a child out
of the educational “closet”. Students have been found to better grasp
skills and concepts that are presented to them directly. It allows them
to reach an entirely new level of understanding. He explained that a
child is very curious to learn new things. Learning beyond the
books will enhance and feed the child‟s creativity. This way outside
