The High Street offers an eclectic mix of independent shops, tea rooms, delis, restaurants, and hotels. Here,

you will also find the Adnams shop and factory which offers daily tours. The bustle of the town, with its

commanding Lighthouse can be seen from every angle and is a great place to visit during your stay. You

can climb to the very top and experience the wonderful views across the North Sea.

Southwold Pier is not to be missed and offers the ‘Under the Pier Show’, arguably the most eccentric

amusement arcade in the country! Southwold Harbour can be reached via the Common or from the town.

There you will find The Harbour Inn and The Sole Bay Fish Co where you can buy the local catch of the day.

You can also take the well-known ferry to get you across to Walberswick.

Walberswick is a quaint and sleepy village, very popular among the rich and famous with many celebrities

said to have second homes there. Crabbing is a common pastime, so make sure you bring a bucket and

crabbing line! The pubs and gift shops are very popular all year round with The Anchor Inn being one of

our favourites for lazy lunches or a tipple or two!

The walk over the bridge and to the village from Southwold is very pleasant and can be accessed either

along the riverbank or following the inland path. The pebble beach is the perfect place to pitch a picnic and

watch the waves roll onto the shore. The Black Dog Deli boasts delicious local produce, perfect for your

picnic on the beach.

Reydon is the first village you come to on the road into Southwold and has many lovely houses and a nice

hotel for food and drinks. There is a great walk from Reydon to Southwold which crosses Buss Creek and

leads directly to Southwold Pier. At the right time of year, you can often see spectacular displays of starling

murmuration’s.

We love shopping and the stylish High Street has a good mix of shops interspersed with cafés and

restaurants. There is a fantastic grade listed cinema in the High Street and has been showing films for over

100 years! We would highly recommend a visit to see some of your favourite blockbusters.

Take a delightful stroll along Sailor’s Path, a beautiful coastal stretch, that leads you to the quaint holiday

village of Thorpeness, a genteel seaside resort, and the inspiration of Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie. Almost all of

it was built in the early 20th Century and his idea was to create the perfect family holiday environment for

himself and his friends to enjoy. With its Mock Jacobean and Tudor style houses, a pretty meare with boats

you can hire, a great pub to enjoy a tipple or two and a golf and country club, we think Thorpeness ticks all

the boxes for a great holiday destination!

Snape Maltings is just a few miles from Aldeburgh and is home to the world-famous ‘Concert Hall’, where a

varied programme of music, arts and exhibitions take place throughout the year. It is also home to an array

of wonderful shops and eating places to keep all the family happy. There are river cruises along the River

Alde, and it hosts many special events, including Farmers Markets and the Aldeburgh Food and Drink

Festival.
