Suffolk
C O A
S T
Who doesn’t love the seaside? We may be a little biased, but we think that the Suffolk Coast is just beautiful!
During your stay, you can discover picturesque seaside towns with colourful beach huts, stunning coastal
nature reserves and wonderful walks. The Suffolk Coast is the perfect place to take your holiday!
ALDEBURGH AND SURROUNDING
VILLAGES
Situated in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Aldeburgh was once a thriving port and
shipbuilding town. Now it is a vibrant coastal oasis with plenty of independent shops and eateries to enjoy.
On the pretty shingle beach, you will see Fisherman’s huts selling the day’s catch, and Maggi Hambling’s
metal scallop shell sculpture, which is her tribute to Benjamin Britten, the town’s most famous resident and
founder of the annual music festival. There are also some lovely hotels overlooking the sea and are perfect
for a drink or a meal with a view.
We love shopping and the stylish High Street has a good mix of shops interspersed with cafés and
restaurants. There is a fantastic grade listed cinema in the High Street and has been showing films for over
100 years! We would highly recommend a visit to see some of your favourite blockbusters.
Take a delightful stroll along Sailor’s Path, a beautiful coastal stretch, that leads you to the quaint holiday
village of Thorpeness, a genteel seaside resort, and the inspiration of Glencairn Stuart Ogilvie. Almost all of
it was built in the early 20th Century and his idea was to create the perfect family holiday environment for
himself and his friends to enjoy. With its Mock Jacobean and Tudor style houses, a pretty meare with boats
you can hire, a great pub to enjoy a tipple or two and a golf and country club, we think Thorpeness ticks all
the boxes for a great holiday destination!
Snape Maltings is just a few miles from Aldeburgh and is home to the world-famous ‘Concert Hall’, where a
varied programme of music, arts and exhibitions take place throughout the year. It is also home to an array
of wonderful shops and eating places to keep all the family happy. There are river cruises along the River
Alde, and it hosts many special events, including Farmers Markets and the Aldeburgh Food and Drink
Festival.
SOUTHWOLD AND SURROUNDING
VILLAGES
We think Southwold ticks all the boxes for a perfect seaside holiday and we hope you will agree. The
stunning sandy seafront is lined with coloured beach huts and the promenade stretches all along the
beachfront and leads right into the heart of the town.
Its interwoven streets lined with gorgeous cottages and grand townhouses, there is plenty of wonderful
architecture to see.
