GULF OF MEXICO PROGRAM 1995 PRIORITY PROJECTS<br />

The second generation action agenda resulted in development of priority projects for<br />

action items addressing <strong>the</strong> ten challenges. There are five objectives in <strong>the</strong> call for<br />

preproposals:<br />

. To seek <strong>the</strong> most technically sound and cost-effective proposals available to<br />

address <strong>the</strong> Gulf of Mexico Program’s 1995 priority projects.<br />

. To solicit participation from federal, state, and local governments throughout<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gulf region, as well as research, academic, nongovernmental, business,<br />

and industry participants in <strong>the</strong> Gulf of Mexico Program.<br />

. To specifically address <strong>the</strong> Program’s 1995 priority projects.<br />

. To accomplish <strong>the</strong> objectives specified in <strong>the</strong> projects within one year.<br />

. To encourage, to <strong>the</strong> maximum extent possible, <strong>the</strong> development of<br />

organizational partnerships between federal, state, and local governments, and<br />

research, academic, non-governmental, business, and industry stakeholders in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Gulf of Mexico’s future ecological and economic viability.<br />

ELIGIBILITY:<br />

Federal, state, and local government agencies, academic institutions, and/or nonprofit<br />

groups are eligible to respond directly. Due to <strong>the</strong> restrictions on federal funding,
