and Land Scotland to develop the network of 16 campsites located within beautiful
national forests in the country while the Camping and Caravanning Club can focus on
DENMARK
Industry body Camping Outdoor
Denmark has made its stance clear
for the country’s upcoming Finance
Act 2023 as it attempts to make
life fairer and more affordable for
caravan and motorhome owners
in the country. The organisation
is proposing that caravans and
motorhomes should be subject to
reduced registration tax and fuel
consumption tax due to the fact
they drive far fewer kilometres than
regular cars and are equipped with
on-board facilities. Curently only
classic cars over the age of 35 enjoy
this tax relief. Camping Outdoor
Denmark is also proposing to
equalise the weight tax between
caravans and trailers – at present
caravan owners pay significantly
more road tax in Denmark than
those with regular trailers.
GERMANY
Despite difficult trading conditions and supply chain issues, the caravan and
motorhome industry in Germany recorded a positive first quarter of 2022. New
registrations of leisure vehicles fell slightly by about 4.8 per cent to 23,061 for the
quarter, but that is compared to record figures from 2021. It is still higher than
figures from 2020 and 2019. That figure is broken down by 17,485 new motorhomes
registered (down 8.3 per cent on 2021) and 5,576 new caravans registered (up 7.9 per
cent on 2021). Despite a lack of vehicle chassis, components and an overall shortage
of materials, both motorhomes and caravans were able to top last year’s results in
January and February.
