RICK SINDT A GAY ARTIST
WHO FINDS INSPIRATION
AND SELF-DISCOVERY IN
PORNOGRAPHY
Rick Sindt was born in Hastings,
Minnesota. He moved to Chicago and
attended North Park University and
graduated with a degree in visual arts
magna cum laude. As a gay person
questioning his role in society and life in
general he uses his artistic creativity to
help answer these questions for himself
and at the same time may answer some
questions for others viewing his art.
framework to imagine what it would be
like to touch and be touched in these
ways. By embracing the feeling evoked
by these images and videos, I gained a
greater understanding of the intimacy
I desired. Using cropped images of
pornography, my work follows the same
self-discovery process; pornographic
imagery is the gateway that ultimately,
leads to the intimacy in (my) paintings
Rick Sindt works in drawing with graphite
as well as painting primarily in oils. His
work shows an understanding of human
anatomy and the complexities of
movement and the eroticism evoked
by the body. This graphite pencil
Following are some excerpts from his
own artist statement:
For me, self-discovery was found
through the viewing of pornography.
I found the intimacy I desired within
the taboo, my identity revealed to me
through cultural artifacts deemed to
be smut. For myself, and others in the
queer community, this smut becomes
sacred. Pornography is a gateway
for curiosity, a seedling of desire, and
a teacher who makes these acts
permissible. Pornography provides a
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) sent a
letter to U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank
Kendall regarding the Air Force Library
at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany
hosting a “Drag Queen Story Time” event
for young children of servicemembers.
Rubio urged him to cancel the event,
The full text of the letter is below.
Dear Secretary Kendall:
U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) was
so happy he posted gay hate on his Recently, the Air Force Library at
website. Sorry, Rube Drag is part of Ramstein Air Force Base (AFB) in
gay life. We don’t spit on barbershop Germany announced that it would be
quartets, do we?
hosting a “Drag Queen Story Time” event
Ok, I see how The Hips on the Drag planned for June 2, 2022 to celebrate
Queen Go Swish, Swish, Swish could Pride Month on base. I urge you to
excite Trumps’s Liddle Marco, so I guess immediately cancel this politically
kids today who are living through extreme
circumstances. The mental health of youth is
a very important topic and PSGFF recognizes
that it has a way to work with and help global
youth.
Krechman is passionate about giving a voice
to those who need it most and believes that
film is one of the most powerful mediums for
storytelling and communication. This event
will serve as an opportunity for PSGFF to raise
awareness and funds for the festival, where
the finalists will be announced at the United
Nations in New York in December 2022.
Peacemaker Corps Foundation Founder to
Deliver Special Message on the 2022 Film
Festival at Rancho Mirage Rotary Club
@ Rancho Mirage Library
Carole Krechman, CEO and founder of the
Peacemaker Corps Foundation, will be
delivering a special heartfelt message about
the 2022 PSGFF Film Festival to the Rancho
Mirage Rotary Club. The Film Festival is
designed to promote World Peace through the
eyes of the world’s youth and this year we will
include films from Ukrainian youth who have
experienced terror first-hand.
June 02
FREE Entry - starts 7:30am
The Peacemaker Corps and their primary
initiative, PSGFF - is an NGO affiliated with the
United Nations - They work closely with the UN
and are supported by UN agencies, and have a
long relationship with them.
Carole Krechman will be talking about all
The Peacemaker Corps is ensuring that the
voices and stories of both World Youth and also
Ukrainian youth made homeless by war are
heard. It’s critical for these youngsters, who are
now going through such terror, to be able to
express their feelings, to have someone listen
to them, and to feel some control over their
situation.
The Peacemakers Corps Annual Peace in the
Streets Global Film Festival (PSGFF) will allow
all youth to interact with people all over the
world. They provide them with a platform
from which they may express themselves and
advocate for their own interests.
Today, more than ever, young people,
especially from Ukraine need to be able to
express their emotions, aspirations, and futures
in short films. PSGFF is a one-of-a-kind venue
for the world to see this.
As an NGO partner with the UN, we are allowed
to broadcast our PSGFF award ceremony live
worldwide on UN WebTV and continue to offer
disciplinary action against all involved
in allowing this gross abuse of taxpayer
funding to place children in a sexualized
environment.
U.S. military installations exist to
serve the needs of the warfighter for
training, logistics, storage, testing,
and deployment. Simultaneously,
the installation must also support the
needs of servicemembers and their
families, including creating a safe,
healthy environment for parents raising
children. This is why installations often
include commissaries, pharmacies,
schools, and libraries. On installations
outside the continental United States
(OCONUS), these amenities play an
even more central role in the life of our
servicemembers and their families.
Frequently, servicemembers do not
have options available outside OCONUS
installations due to language and
logistical barriers.
how [they] can feel fabulous inside of
[their] own bodies.”[1] As I hope you
can agree, decisions over children and
their bodies should be left to moms and
dads serving our nation, not mediated
through publicly funded propaganda on
U.S. Air Force bases.
The last thing parents serving their nation
overseas should be worried about,
particularly in a theater with heightened
geopolitical tensions, is whether their
children are being exposed to sexually
charged content simply because they
visited their local library. I urge you
to cancel this event, and request the
following information:
This is not the first time this library has
done an event of this type, evidently
having hosted a similar one for children
last June. How many instances of events
involving drag queens spending time
around children have occurred at
government sponsored events on U.S.
military installations both OCONUS and
in the United States?
How much U.S. taxpayer funding
has gone to cover salaries, utilities,
materials, transportation, and other costs
associated with these events?
Do you and President Biden believe the
proper role of the U.S. Department of
Defense is to facilitate extraordinarily
divisive events involving the children of
U.S. servicemembers?
In light of this, it is completely insane
for Ramstein AFB to use on-installation
resources for rituals like “Drag Queen
Story Time.” These inappropriate events
are extremely divisive at home for good
reason; in all cases, they place young
children in close proximity with adults
who are intentionally and explicitly
sexualized. A flyer for the similar event
last year highlighted the apparent
inclusion of a controversial book, The
Hips on the Drag Queen Go Swish,
Swish, Swish. The author of the book Thank you for your consideration to this
said they wrote it so that children could important matter.
“experience the magic of drag and to
get a little practice shaking their hips
or shimmying their shoulders to know
drawing of the back torso of a male
titled, “The Body is a Bridge” illustrates his
understanding of bodily movement.
Using selected enlarged segments
of stills from pornographic videos he
reinterprets them in paintings that
instigate in viewers an illicit selection of
emotions from romanticism to eroticism
and perhaps for some who are not
comfortable viewing explicit sex disgust
or homophobia. The painting “ The
Whole Private Selves” testifies to the
tenderness of lovemaking between two
men.
The painting “Handing Your Heart to the
Heat” exhibits an explicit view of male
anal sex. Sindt says in his artist statement
that says, “ pornography opens a
gateway for curiosity, a seeding of
desire”
The
painting, “A
Glimpse of
Something”
shows a
segment
of intimate
positioning
between
two males
in a sex
act that
“provides a
framework
to imagine
what it would be like to touch and be
touched in these ways” as Sindt states in
his statement.
from page 8
Quoting Oscar Wilde, “To regret one’s
own experiences is to arrest one’s own
develppment. ‘To deny one’s own
experiences is to put a lie into the lips of
one’s own life. It is no less than a denial
of the soul” Rick Sindt has revealed
some of his personal desires for intimacy
as he found in “smut” as he refers
to the pornography that inspired his
creativity and helped him find a greater
understanding of himself.
Two Men of
Taunton Project
Part
4
The story
Two Men
of Taunton
is about
revolution,
as it
happened.
then dug with my hands to bring it up
and toss it in the canoe. Or take my
knife and split it and eat it raw. I would
also fish Flounder on a rig and land
gigantic Stripper Bass with a lure the size
of a good fish today,
You have everything needed for a
traditional clambake with Beer, lobster,
seaweed, quahog, and some root
veggies. Making it on the beach with
freshly caught ingredients is a must on
My dad loved his garden, and right in
the middle, he had a flag and flew the
US and Taunton Flag on patriotic days.
People would ask what the other Flag
was for, and he would beam with pride.
It was the first Flag in the revolutionary
war.
As a boy I loved lobster! My relatives set
lobster traps, and I was licensed to dig
quahogs. Some days before breakfast,
I would set out to the atlantic to gather
them from the ocean. I would pre-sell
some for gas money at the Golden
Pheasant Restaurant and Beer at the
Package Store, promising them a fair any visit to New England. A clambake
a share in return. Once on the beach, I dates back hundreds of years to when
would tie my canoe to my waist, move the first European settlers learned the
into the ocean a meter or so, and start practice of cooking food in a pit.
dancing the twist. I would Twist the ball
of my foot until I felt a rock-like structure,
By Ben Benson
This Pride, Mr. Man is pitting the top
streaming services up against one
another to determine which network is
the gayest with the best male nudity.
Their editorial team had the laborious
task of combing through all of the
content on Netflix, Hulu, HBO,
Showtime, and Prime Video to find their
gayest titles. They then went even
further, counting the number of intimate
gay scenes within each title! Results
for “Mr. Man’s Battle of the Streaming
Services” were broken down into four
categories: the series with the Most
Gay Scenes, those with the Most Nude
Scenes, and those with the Most Full
Frontal and the Most Butt Scenes.
Netflix wins the Most Gay Scenes
category.
HBO comes in second place with 128
gay scenes, 17 of which come from
Looking, the HBO series starring
Jonathan Groff and Russell Tovey.
In the Most Nude Scenes category,
Netflix once again dominates but
HBO comes a close second thanks to
Oz, their series about inmates and
correctional officers battling for power
and survival.
The one category HBO leads in “Mr. Man’s
Battle of the Streaming Services” is in Most
Full Frontal Scenes, also, in large part, due
to Oz.
Showtime, the network that introduced
Queer as Folk to the world, ranks as the #3
streaming service in all categories in the
battle. Prime Video and Hulu consistently
rank at the bottom but special recognition
goes to Hulu for scoring big in gay hearts
with its two endearing series, Love Victor
and Normal People.
