approved my request to visit the Classic Workshop, which is
currently located in Freiberg/Neckar, about 10 miles from the main
Zuffenhausen plant.

On September 24, 2010, my wife Libby and I, along with Paul Gregor
and Phil Doty (PCA Region Procedures Manual Editor) had the
unique opportunity to tour the facility and see the project car up
close and personal. The Classic Workshop is in a
non-descript building, but inside it is anything but.
The facility is so pristine that you could eat off the
floor. There is literally no problem Jochen and his
staff cannot solve. With the original drawings and
templates, they can make anything they don’t have
in stock.
When we saw the project car, it had been
dismantled and stripped, and looked more like a
911T, albeit without an engine and transmission.
The cost of such a restoration, even with shipping,
is very reasonable, but more importantly, there is
not another way to get a factory new 1973 911T
delivered to your door almost 40 years after it was
originally in the dealer’s showroom.
