$1.2 million Superannuation Fraud - The hacker had gained access to third party apps with the user of a compromised password,
and accessed the email using the same password. From here they used that to reset passwords on social media and reset the
superannuation app. The cyber criminal then called up and convinced the victim to divert their number. They then made a transfer
using the app, and the company called what they thought was the account holder to confirm the transaction, and spoke to the
cyber criminal who was able to ID themselves as the account holder, the transaction went ahead. The victim was given $20,000
back.
$798,000 Shares Fraud - Result of compromised passwords, and lack of security awareness lead to the victim unwittingly sharing
the last bit of information needed to complete the scam. Most was already for sale on the dark web.
$362,000 Netbanking Fraud Keylogger - A scam lead this user to install a key logger and withdraw cash from a home building
account. This victim would have likely needed to declare bankruptcy.

There are many ways files can be lost unexpectedly and our statistics show that

1) Cybercriminals use known weaknesses to hack your devices. You should always

2) Turn on multi-factor authentication on all your social media accounts and browser.
It makes it more difficult for someone to access your files or account.
3) Implement access controls by controlling who can access what on your devices to
minimise the risk of unauthorised access.
4) Turn on ransomware protection. If you’re not sure how to do this, drop into the

5) Set up regular backups. The best recovery method for a ransomware attack is a
regular backup.
