Temple University Honors Top Students
The answer to the question, “Where will the next generation
of travel industry leaders come from?” was answered at
the annual awards presentation for top students at Temple
University’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
One after another, outstanding students were honored
for their achievements in academics, volunteerism and successful
internships in various segments of the travel and
tourism industry.
One such outstanding student was Tara Miller, a junior at the
School of Tourism, who's dream is to work in a tourist office
helping travel agents and consumers. Miller was the recipient
of the Joel and Lenore Abels Scholarship Award which will
help her finish her senior year at the University. She certainly
doesn't need help with her grades as her grade point average
was 3.9. At home she’s involved in operations and customer
service at a AAA Three-Diamond Resort. In addition to the
Abels Scholarship Fund, Miller has received commendations
from Temple University, the PA Dutch Convention and Visitors
Bureau, and the National Tour Association. “Supporting scholarships
like that awarded to Tara Miller,” said Travel Matters
Inc's CEO Bill McCue , “is the best way agents and suppliers
can give back to the industry that has given us so much.”
