• Lack of significant cellular atypia, lack of basaloid nature
of the accompanying epithelium
• Occasional papillary ductal epithelial fragments or associated
changes of a benign papilloma
• Diagnostic confusion with adenoid cystic carcinoma may
lead to a false-positive diagnosis of cancer on FNA

• Adenoid cystic carcinoma
• Ductal carcinoma in situ, cribriform type
• Adenomyoepithelioma, tubular variant
