Indications for fine-needle aspiration/core

biopsies of palpable breast lesions.

• Palpable masses of clinical/patient concern

(regardless of radiographic findings)

• Masses that can be clinically explained by

normal anatomy/physiology, particularly in

young patients, can be observed for two

menstrual cycles

• Any persistent/suspicious masses in patients

with family history should be biopsied

regardless of imaging findings
