PRESIDENT’S
WELCOME
Welcome to the 63rd Annual Tennessee Music
Education Association Professional Development
Conference. This year is extremely special as it
marks the first time in two years we have been
able to gather in-person for the TMEA Conference
and All-State Concerts. The pandemic gave TMEA
leadership a chance to reimagine and reorganize
this event to better serve the wonderful music
educators and students of Tennessee. Our
convention offers outstanding opportunities for
Tennessee music educators of all levels to sharpen
their skills, hear the best performing groups our
state has to offer, view the latest materials and
equipment, and network with each other. After two years of live music
being stifled due to the pandemic, we are excited to hear the wonderful
performances of the 2022 Tennessee All-State Ensembles and the
Selected Performance Ensembles.
Our conference features excellent professional development offerings.
Talented and respected clinicians from across America, including some from
the ranks of Tennessee’s finest music educators, will present engaging sessions
that will inspire and inform. Plan to visit our Exhibit Hall to discover new
ideas, travel companies, music publishers, resources, and friends! Attend the
research and poster sessions to learn about the newest research findings from
our notable music scholars. I also hope you will join us at the TMEA Awards
Banquet on Thursday evening to reconnect with one another and celebrate our
colleagues that are being honored during this momentous occasion.
Throughout this week, I hope you will rekindle old friendships and make new
ones while attending the conference in the world-class Gaylord Opryland
Resort and Convention Center. We know you will return home refreshed and
renewed with innovative concepts and ideas that will empower you with a
sense of energy and passion to help you and your students reach the highest
levels of achievement in the upcoming months ahead.
On behalf of the TMEA Board of Directors, Council, Project Chairs, Conference
Chairs, and Executive Committee, thank you for your tireless dedication to
music education and the students you serve.
