1.4.4 Appalachian Heating<br />

Appalachian Heating is a family-owned heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), <strong>and</strong> plumbing<br />

company. Appalachian installs appliances, installs <strong>and</strong> maintains heating <strong>and</strong> cooling systems, <strong>and</strong><br />

installs <strong>and</strong> repairs plumbing. Appalachian entered into a contract with Thompson in August 2005 to<br />

extend its business to include propane supply.<br />

1.4.5 ThompsonGas <strong>Propane</strong> Partners, LLC<br />

ThompsonGas <strong>Propane</strong> Partners is the limited liability company (LLC) formed between Thompson of<br />

Hagerstown, Maryl<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong> Appalachian Heating of Bradley, West Virginia. Under the agreement<br />

forming ThompsonGas <strong>Propane</strong> Partners, LLC, Appalachian Heating provides personnel to install<br />

propane systems <strong>and</strong> deliver propane; Thompson provides equipment, bulk propane, <strong>and</strong> technical<br />

support. The LLC has no employees.<br />

1.5 West Virginia Emergency Service Organizations<br />

1.5.1 West Virginia State Fire Commission<br />

The West Virginia Fire Prevention <strong>and</strong> Control Act 6 of 1975 established the West Virginia State Fire<br />

Commission <strong>and</strong> granted the commission authority to promulgate <strong>and</strong> establish a state fire code. 7 The<br />

commission established the National Fire Codes 8 as the minimum fire prevention <strong>and</strong> protection<br />

requirements for the state.<br />
