Work From Home . . . . . . . . . . . . 15

The advent of the pandemic forced people to go

into a lockdown mode inside their own homes.

A fixed scenery, a fixed room and nowhere to

go, people began to realise the importance of

interior design, and making their home a place for

them to be one with. Be it a workspace, a hobby

room, or a place to relax and pamper yourself, the

effects that a great interior can have in your overall

lifestyle, is unmatched.

Through the following stories, we’ll take a look

some of the interior trends that we think will

flourish in the coming year and the next.

SERENE KITCHEN

Kitchen is now the place to unwind, and discover

yourself. With increasing focus on healthy and

sustainable living as well as a reduced frequency

of eating out, people are spending more time

than ever in their own kitchens. The kitchen

hence needs to be a place full of tranquility,

refreshment, warmth and calmness.

THE CALM GREEN

2.

Green is the colour of nature, and

exudes the feeling of freshness and

vitality. Using various shades of green

humbled by the touch of white and

wooden tones brings an unmatched

sense of security and comfort to

one’s kitchen. The muted green here

can be introduced in the form of

tiles, appliances and even furniture

as well as upholstery. A more lively

bright green from plants and potted

herbs brings the zing to a peacefully

composed kitchen space.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR

KITCHEN SERENE

The feature of a muted green

brings serenity and nature into the

house, while warm wood tones

accentuate the feeling of being

grounded. Feature of house plants

and garden herbs in the kitchen

add a lively touch. Clean modern

lines and minimal furniture bring

back the urban element into the

kitchen while rustic patterns such

as terrazzo add back warmth.

Overall, the kitchen should have

light muted colours like cream

and off white to ensure a bright

and lively interior with slightly

darker elements adding contrast

and personality. Plenty of natural

sunlight brings a calm and happy

tone to the kitchen while geometric

lighting fixtures add character.

WORK FROM HOME

When you spend a lot of time working from

home, you need to have a space to be actually

separated from the rest of the house, to be more

productive and also to have a clear separation

between working hours and relaxing hours.

Many people began carving out dedicated

work-from-home spaces in their pre existing

home spaces.Comfortable office furniture,

good lighting, efficient storage, will see a rising

demand soon in the interior design.

THE NEUTRAL PALETTE

A stunning neutral palette is joy to live in. It

runs from black to browns to grays and beige.

It will give a calming and uncluttered look to

your home office thus increasing productivity.

These shades add a soft. soothing element to

your room. While decorating with a neutral

colour scheme, it is important to bring in a

variety of textures and patterns to add an

interesting dramatic element to the room.

Adding plants or a single splash of colour is

another way to create bright focal points.

HOW TO STYLISHLY

WORK FROM HOME

It is important to create a contrast

in a neutral space. The secret to

any neutral scheme is textures

and patterns which will make your

home office more eye catching

and have an overall engaging

effect on thespace. Geometric

pattern adds a bold feature within

a space. Another easy way to add

texture is by bringing a natural

element to the space for instance

having a wooden flooring, plants

or natural lighting. One can also

have cohesive space by adding

accessories like small wooden

figurines, concrete paper weight

etc. Adding layers of colours by

mixing different shades of neutrals

is another technique to make the

office feel more cohesive and not

boring.
