Opportunities
Within Challenges?
Take the shot!”
Greetings! From myself and everyone on our team,
we hope spring is treating you well, both in your
business and life, as we blaze new trails through
2022! The adventurer in me is excited for summer
days spent on the water, wakeboarding
and kitesurfing. When I reflect on the past
season, I’m so grateful for the opportunities
I’ve had to build deeper connections with
family and friends. My middle daughter,
Kaylee, turned 21 in November and my
son, Michael, just attended his senior
prom. Of course I had to share those moments
with you, which you can check
out to your right on Page 3. I’m so proud
of them both!
Medellin, Colombia was good to me!
If you keep up with headlines, there is
no doubt times are changing. I think
its important to stay grateful during
these times and always look for the
chance to learn and grow. Lately,
I’ve had to travel quite a bit for business.
I made a point on each of those trips to

take at least one opportunity
to be present in the moment
and experience something
new. I’m so glad I did! I’ve
learned along the way and
made incredible memories,
as you can see from the photos
pictured here. Experience
is the ultimate teacher
for a hungry student and as
the saying goes, you miss
100% of the shots you don’t
take. Take the shot!
On business and industry fronts, I know things
are ever changing. At Green Dynamix we’re
looking for the opportunities within the challenges,
which aligns with our first Core Value:
Continually Improving – We strive to stay innovative,
simple, and learning. There is always
more to learn! Our focus right now is finding
better ways to streamline
our processes and
offer
our customers wider
availability with
more options for
deliveries.
We’re continuing to expand our fleet
and have added to our crews to accommodate the
busy season. As always, we want to be the Highlight of your day!
We’re sticking to our Core Values, listening to the needs
of our amazing customers’, and riding the waves
of opportunity as they come so we can grow
together this year. How do you find opportunities
within challenges? - Cheers!

Have you struggled to find certain materials
for your projects that meet your price and
spec requirements lately? Are you able to find
them at all? We can empathize with you. Over
the past year, market trends and demands have
caused massive blackouts on certain materials.
These shortages run far and deep; they are not
limited to just a few crops.
The Texas freeze of 2021 is still leaving its mark
on the Green Industry as a whole. Growers are
pulling from crops that have not reached the
level of maturity we are all accustomed to and
current demand is too high for anyone to “sit on
their plants”, waiting. It could be said that we
are facing the opposite of the 2008 recession, when buyers could procure material at lower
prices that far exceeded standard specs because growers were unable to move their crops
for so long. Now, material is moving faster than crops have time to catch up – and are more
expensive. Some materials have even doubled in price and at significantly smaller specs than
industry standards.
We know substituting material is not always an option for every project, but for those that
can, we believe it is one way to help ease some of the strain of current market trends. A number
of factors come into play every time we offer a substitution for any plant material.
Of course, we try to match the container size whenever pos-
sible, but
the overall aesthetic of the material, color combinations, growth
patterns and sometimes even scent comes into play. For example,
Rosemary has been used as a substitution for Lemongrass because of
the aroma. The location of the material within the landscape is also
considered. Focal points like walkways or entrances would warrant
different substitutions than bordering plants. Many times, substitutions
are offered at lower costs because availability is less strained
on the particular variety or similar plant material.
For customers who cannot take substitutions, we will not offer them because
we understand each jobsite is unique. Our goal is to facilitate your visions for your customers
and maintain honest and open communication about current market availability.
While the situation is certainly challenging, even materials that are not
hitting standard specs are still healthy and will eventually grow into the
beautiful landscapes you envisioned. Plants and trees take time, and we
can’t force them. If you are able, stay flexible! We will navigate the challenges
of supply and demand together. We are doing everything we can to
stay ahead of the market trends and as always, be the Highlight of your day!

Transporting living materials is truly an amazing process. It takes a
significant amount of planning and many hands to safely ship plants,
trees and landscaping materials together on one truck without damage. For
us, our operations and logistics departments tie the knot in successfully serving
our customers and delivering consistent quality, on time.
Our Operations & Logistics Manager, Josh Carter, recently celebrated his
5-year work anniversary on the Green Dynamix team and was also nominated
by fellow team members to win the first quarter of our employee recognition
program for 2022. We want to take the opportunity to say thank you to Josh for
all his hard work, commitment to living out our Core Values and exemplifying
what it means to be a true team player.
While most of his responsibilities are behind the scenes of what we do, his
knowledge and experience have been a key factor in our growth as a company.
Josh started on the team as a Class A CDL Driver and quickly developed
a passion for the logistics and operations of the Green
Industry. Since that time, he has steadily worked to
complete a variety of
courses and industry
certifications, in- cluding becoming
an FNGLA
Certified Horticulture
Professional.
We could congratulate
Josh on several
of his recent accomplishments
within the
company, but most
notably, we would
like to congratulate
him on his marriage
to his wife Kelsey this
past January.
We wish them both
many happy years together and
we are so grateful to have Josh on our team!

I
n March, we
welcomed Matthew
(Matt) Lany
to the team as an
Account Executive
serving the Jacksonville, FL market and surrounding areas.
Matt has a genuine enthusiasm for plants and landscapes
– and a genuine respect for the people who are
making it all happen. He is an Air Force brat who was
born in Omaha, Nebraska, and was an English professor
for the last 20 years in Jacksonville. Admittedly, grading
stacks of essays started to fill him with existential dread,
and he decided it was time to move into an industry he
felt passionate about during the next phase of his work
life. Combined with his love for plants and the Green Industry,
Matt’s team player mindset and customer focus falls in line with our Core Values,
making him a great fit serving our Jacksonville area customers. He has been married to his
lovely wife Nancy for 20 years and together, they have a daughter Eloise, who Matt describes
as the best kid a dad could ever wish for. In his free time, he enjoys swimming, walking
his dogs and throwing the ball with his daughter. We are thrilled to have Matt on board the
Green Dynamix team!
In November of
2021, we added a
new member to our
Inside Sales team,
Vanessa Lawton,
who assists in putting together quotes, entering orders
and following up with our customers to maintain the
highest level of satisfaction. Vanessa came on board
looking for a new career opportunity and her strong
organizational skills, professional experience and
team player mindset made her a perfect fit for our
Inside Sales role. She is a native of Lake City, FL; her
parents moved to the area from Jacksonville in 1964 to
start a business and family. She remained in Lake City
over the years, watching it change from a town with
a couple of restaurants to “Florida’s Gateway”, as it is referred to today. Her father was an
electrician and opened an electrical company where she worked for the family business for
over 20 years. Vanessa has also held various administrative roles, including in AR and HR. In
her free time, her favorite thing to do is travel to the beach to enjoy the sun, sand and saltwater.
One of her biggest hobbies is collecting seashells, which she has thousands
of. While she is currently enjoying an empty nest, Vanessa has one daughter,
Samantha, who also came to work at Green Dynamix recently, as well as five
sons and three grandchildren who all mean the world to her. We are so happy
to have her a part of the Green Dynamix family!

Samantha
(Sam)
Courson joined
our team as Receiving
Specialist in
March of this year,
ensuring our materials are correctly entered in our system,
accurately labelled and assisting with all inventory
processes. She is an outdoor enthusiast, has a bachelor’s
degree in psychology and has experience in both administrative
and management roles. Sam has always found
working with plants appealing and her positive and supportive
attitude align with our Core Values as a company.
Over the last five years, she has worked with the community
in social work and decided it was time for a change of
scenery in a new industry. In her free time, Sam loves to
bake and runs a small business on the side called ‘Sammie’s Sweets’. Taking road trips is another
huge part of her life and she also enjoys hiking new trails and reading in her hammock
when at home. We are excited to have her on our team!
V
ince has been with Green Dynamix
for 3 years and served
in mulitple roles. He’s achieved
many accomplishments within
our sales departments and initially
developed our inventory location
and coding system. Vince is well
known for his positive attitude,
motivational demenor, and not
recognizing a single movie quote
ever. Congratulations on your well
deserved promotion!
T
eri has been with Green Dynamix
2 ½ years as an Inside Sales Rep.
She’s processed a large majority of
our quotes and orders over that time
and has tremendous knowledge in
helping our customers. She consistently
receives raving comments from
her accounts and makes even the most
daunting tasks look easy. She has an
amazing gift to brighten anyone’s day!
We are thrilled to have her overseeing
our Inside Sales Department!
L
auren has been with Green
Dynamix a little over 2 years
and received a well deserved
promotion from Order Processor
to Purchaser. She’s made many
large contributions to our overall
success with her willingness to
take on new tasks and enthusiastic
approach to learning more.
She worked closely with our Purchasing
department
and has built
excellent relationships
with
our partners.
Congratulations
Lauren!

O
ne of our favorite choices for an incredible
and long lasting pop of color in the landscape
is Salvias (sage). It comprises the largest genus in the
mint family and includes the sage you probably have
sitting in your spice cupboard at home. There are
nearly 1,000 varieties. Salvias are easy to grow perennials,
drought resistant and can tolerate a variety of
soil types. They prefer full sun and are well-suited for
zones 4-10, depending on the variety. With minimal attention,
Salvias can last for 6 to 10 years, or even more
in some cases. To prolong and encourage flowering,
its recommended to deadhead the flower spikes when
the majority of them have wilted or faded to brown.
For more specific information, research each variety!
