THE GAFFER Hello and welcome to our penultimate home game of the season. This evening we go up against a strong Sheffield United team who are very much in the fight for a top-six spot. Due to deadlines I’ve had to write these notes before Good Friday’s match against Stoke City so without reflecting on that result and a Peterborough team we should have done much better against. We have some talented players who have made great strides this season. However people want to look at the campaign, I know that we have had some real successes too but unfortunately what we haven’t been is consistent enough to get results. We are always looking at how we can progress. The close-season programme for the players has all been taken care of already and in terms of how we shape the squad there are plans in place. It’s always a mixture between planning WE HAVE SOME TALENTED PLAYERS WHO HAVE MADE GREAT STRIDES THIS SEASON... BUT UNFORTUNATELY WHAT WE HAVEN’T BEEN IS CONSISTENT ENOUGH TO GET RESULTS regardless of the outcome, we know we have a new challenge in front of us today. Paul Heckingbottom’s side are in the mix for the play-offs so we need to match their energy and show our own quality. Last time at Ashton Gate was a frustrating 1-1 draw against Peterborough United where we expected a much better team performance. We can play well against the top sides in this division, as we did against Bournemouth, but then we showed our inconsistent side against for the future, looking at how you get from A to B, but of course A is the most important place and that is the present. There is a lot of hard work to come but our focus remains on the final four games, starting this evening. Enjoy the game.
