CASTINGS & FORGINGS The castings & forgings are made in the Foundry Forge Plant (FFP) which has dedicated shops for Steel Melting & Foundry, Grey Iron Foundry, Nonferrous Foundry, Forging (heavy, medium & light), Machining and Rolls manufacturing. Steel and Iron Foundry are supported by Pattern shops, Sand preparation set up, Fettling and Heat treatment shops. FFP has its captive Oxygen, Acetylene & Producer Gas Plants. HEC manufactures all grades of plain carbon and alloy steel. Electric arc furnaces of capability 30 t (2 Nos.), 10 t and induction furnace of 5 t are used for steel melting. 60 t Vacuum Arc Degassing, 60 t Ladle furnace and 90 t shops are equipped with hydraulic presses of capacity 6000 t, 2650 t, 1650 t, 1000 t and hammers. Steel melting shop is capable of producing and utilising up to 130 t liquid metal for single ingot/casting. FFP has well equipped laboratory and quality management system.
