CASTINGS & FORGINGS<br />

The castings & <strong>for</strong>gings are made in the Foundry Forge Plant (FFP) which<br />

has dedicated shops <strong>for</strong> Steel Melting & Foundry, Grey Iron Foundry, Nonferrous<br />

Foundry, Forging (heavy, medium & light), Machining and Rolls<br />

manufacturing. Steel and Iron Foundry are supported by Pattern shops,<br />

Sand preparation set up, Fettling and Heat treatment shops. FFP has its<br />

captive Oxygen, Acetylene & Producer Gas Plants.<br />

<strong>HEC</strong> manufactures all grades of plain carbon and alloy steel. Electric arc<br />

furnaces of capability 30 t (2 Nos.), 10 t and induction furnace of 5 t are used<br />

<strong>for</strong> steel melting. 60 t Vacuum Arc Degassing, 60 t Ladle furnace and 90 t<br />

shops are equipped with hydraulic presses of capacity 6000 t, 2650 t,<br />

1650 t, 1000 t and hammers.<br />

Steel melting shop is capable of producing and utilising up to 130 t liquid<br />

metal <strong>for</strong> single ingot/casting.<br />
