Good afternoon everyone, and welcome to Portland Park
for this afternoon’s match with Kilbirnie Ladeside.
I’d like to extend that welcome to Thomas
Molloy, Shaun Dillon, Gordon Ronney & all
those visiting us today from Kilbirnie.
Great to be back in front of the fans for
the last few remaining games, can’t
believe it’s been two months since our last
game at Portland. These things make a
real difference. We’re hoping the home
support can push us on to a top ten finish,
it’s not just about safety for me. Top ten
is a true representation of a really solid
season for us, I believe.
We had a really good run in January-
February, went on a bit of a rough patch &
now look to have recovered a bit of form
back at just the right time to consolidate
what we have been doing this campaign.
I’ve said it since last pre-season, it would
be a battle to stay in this Division, and so
it has proved, and we want to be a Premier
Division side next season. We have to
get it over the line in the next couple of
games. The boys have shown real
togetherness the last couple of months,
especially when we’ve had some key
players out, and that sort of bond will do
us well for the remainder of the season.
Kilbirnie are a real danger to us this week,
they’ve been in phenomenal form
recently. We’ve been pleased with our
form since Christmas, but they’ve been on
a hell of a run! They’ll see this as a
winnable game after the run they’ve been
on, so we won’t be taking them lightly at
all. Thomas & Shaun have really
transformed a great club in the short time
they’ve been there, we wish them all the
best (today aside, clearly).
The Development Team finished their
season last Friday, and what a great full
debut season it has been for them as a
collective. We have produced some really
exciting talent from that team already &
it’s been a sound investment from the club
over the last couple of years.
It’s Chappy’s Testimonial Dinner next
Saturday night & there are still a few
tickets remaining. A bona fide Troon
legend he is, I’m sure you’ll all come out
in support of a man who has given this
club everything he’s had over the last 13
years. Let’s look after one of our own.
“Thanks for your
continued
support, and
enjoy the game!
‘Mon The Troon!”
