A Gregorian Antidote to
the Epidemic ‘WAR’

In the age of evolutionary progressivism, ideas stemmed into
theories, of which Social Darwinism gained spotlight. Darwin’s On
the Origin of Species suggests that organisms best adjusted to their
environment are the most successful in surviving and reproducing.
It is borrowed from Herbert Spencer’s work Principles of Biology.
Both scholars complement each other as a reason to arrive at such a
diagnosis. Interestingly, the popularised ‘survival of the fittest’ was
not intended by Darwin in relation with the process of evolution. He
again leases it from Thomas Malthus who regarded ‘survival of the
fitter’ because the “struggle for existence” is relative and thus not
absolute. Instead, the winners with respect to species within
ecosystems could become losers with a ‘change’ of circumstances.
Our strength and courage of yesterday was being used to ace the
ongoing pandemic. The word‘pandemic’ captures multiple models
of connotation now. The battle against virus was not foregone that it
