can emulate the love embodied in the Son of
Man. A clear understanding of the Triune God shall
throw the flood of light on Christ, the Son of God.
In the unitary God there is little scope for love,
In the duality of God love does not function fully,
In the Trinity, love not only passess from one to
another;
It flows far even without limitation, love each
gives,
But love is infinite,
Love each receives, love each shares.
Even rationalists may endorse the view that love
in God is not the human love limited in its sphere.
Love is eternal essence of God. There are devotees
who offer worship to idols, to them also it is living
ultimate God who responds. The triune God is love
itself, it is the source of everything. Love of God,
as understood properly, has the following characteristics.
To deny love in the absolute is to deny
eternal love. Religion places love above all other
attributes. Let us list the characteristics of divine
love, to supplement the compassion with human
love.

• Because love is unlimited and eternal, it is the
supreme model for human relationship
• In the high priestly prayer of Jesus, it is enjoined
upon us that there should be in us the
love that was operative in God the Father and
God the Son that Jesus Christ revealed.
• As Christ lay dying on the cross he prayed
for those who crucified him saying, " forgive
them, Father, for they know not what they
do.’’ We should also pray for our enemies. (St.
Luke 23:34)
• Love of God should prevail upon nations to
co-exist in pease and put an end to war. Human
nature should be transformed into divine
nature by the love of God. Rulers and
people shall assimilate divine nature by the
love of God. Love is the antidote to war.
• The Capitalist order of things should give
place to a free socialist order based on social
justice. Unless this comes to stay, nations may
wage atomic war, and consequently the human
race will be annihilated. Only insects
may survive the nuclear war, as indicated already.
