Science has registered remarkable progress towards
the twenty first century. Technology has
rendered this vast world into an easily accessible
village. Unfortunately, along with many inventions
for human benefit, science has invented disastrous
weapons including the atom bomb; when nation
wage wars they use bombs to destroy each other.
For a fear of total destruction after the Second
World War though nations have tested nuclear
bombs, none of them have used the new bombs
so far. Christians and Muslims fought for Jerusalem
during the Crusades. These wars have generated
enmity between Christians and Muslims.
Wars do not breed love. We know that after the
Reformation Roman Catholics and Protestants
waged war for many years. There was no love lost
in the relation between the two factions of Christians.
Sree Narayana Guru said that man must be
good whatever his religion is. But how can man
make himself good? Man must cease to be selfish.
He must be able to love even his enemies. Man
or woman may not be able to accomplish this
without the Grace of God. Unless one has full faith
in God who is the abode of love, one can hardly
be selfless nor can one love one’s enemies. Selfishness
makes man a victim of sexuality, fanaticism.
In the current century nobody needs to give
up one’s religion and accept another religion by
compulsion if due importance is given to love in
every religion. Love, in its perfection has been
manifested in Crucifixion of Christ. Christ is the
greatest example of self-giving love. According to
Moltmann:
The doctrine of the Trinity wants to describe
God in terms of a history, the history of the mutual
self-giving love of Father and Son and of the
coming of the life giving Spirit of Their love.
The reality of God is living movement of selfgiving
love, this self - giving love is manifested
through the incarnation and vicarious death on
