The 2022 Soaring Eagle Technology Award
Recipient is Kevin Menke
The IFI Soaring Eagle Technology Award recognizes
individuals who have extensive experience in the
industrial fastener industry and who have made significant
contributions to the technological advancement of the
industry. Contributions may be through extensive work on
fastener standards committees; the publication of widely
acclaimed principles or documents; and/or through the
development of fastener-related equipment, products
or processes which have been widely acknowledged as
advancements in fastener technology.
In recognition of your remarkable service and
continuing contributions to fastener technology and
fastener standards. The highlight of your contributions is
undoubtedly the hugely consequential watershed revision
of ASTM B633. In the face of unprecedented obstruction,
you led a large collaborative effort that finally corrects
the record on hydrogen embrittlement and will benefit the
fastener industry for generations. This accomplishment
is a testimony to the personal integrity, persistence and
professionalism that have earned you such great respect
from your peers. Your many contributions in multiple and
diverse technical committees have led to significant and
enduring advancements in fastener technology, fastener
industry standardization, and in the state of the art.
