STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES FOR COMMUNICATION SITES INTERNAL GROUNDING SYSTEM<br />

❐ Each transmission line outer shield is properly bonded to the tower as required <strong>for</strong><br />

towers greater than 61 m (200 ft.) with a weather sealed transmission line<br />

grounding kit.<br />

❐ Each transmission line outer shield is properly bonded to the EGB (or grounding<br />

electrode system) with a weather sealed transmission line grounding kit.<br />

❐ All fencing, gates, <strong>and</strong> gate support posts are properly bonded to the grounding<br />

electrode system.<br />

❐ Ice bridge/cable supports <strong>and</strong> posts are properly bonded to the grounding electrode<br />

system.<br />

❐ The following items, <strong>and</strong> other metallic items located within 1.8 m (6 ft.) of the<br />

grounding electrode system or within 1.8 m (6 ft.) of grounded objects, are properly<br />

bonded to the grounding electrode system as applicable:<br />

• Metallic members of all incoming tele<strong>communication</strong>s cables<br />

• Main electrical ground<br />

• Main telephone ground<br />

• Any other grounding electrode system at the site<br />

• Metallic entry ports<br />

• Metallic conduits, piping, <strong>and</strong> raceways<br />

• HVAC units<br />

• Vent covers <strong>and</strong> grates (if not already grounded/bonded inside)<br />

• Metal siding <strong>and</strong>/or roofing<br />

• Metal fuel storage tanks (above or below ground)<br />

• Skid plate or metal support frame of a prefabricated shelter<br />

• Metallic structures <strong>for</strong> antenna supports, light fixtures, etc.<br />

• H<strong>and</strong>rails <strong>and</strong> safety rails<br />

• Ladders <strong>and</strong> safety cages<br />

❐ Roof-Mounted antenna masts <strong>and</strong> metal support structures are properly grounded.<br />

❐ Building side mounted antennas are properly grounded.<br />

❐ Rooftop mounted towers are properly grounded.<br />

❐ Dispatch centers co-located with <strong>communication</strong>s towers have considered<br />

additional grounding components/techniques to help improve protection of the site.<br />

❐ Special grounding situations have followed minimum recommendations.<br />

F.3 INTERNAL GROUNDING SYSTEM<br />

❐ A properly sized master ground bus bar (MGB) is installed as required.<br />

❐ MGB grounding electrode has been properly bonded <strong>and</strong> routed toward the<br />

grounding electrode system.<br />
