D.5 COMBINING SOIL RESISTIVITY TESTING WITH CLAMP-ON<br />

OHMMETER<br />

Providing site soil resistivity readings along with clamp-on ohmmeter readings to an engineering firm<br />

specializing in grounding electrode system design is at times the only method available <strong>for</strong> grounding<br />

electrode system resistance verification.<br />

Typically, the engineering firm will use the supplied data which is entered into a specialized computer<br />

program that determines grounding electrode system resistance <strong>for</strong> the site. The data required is as<br />

follows:<br />

• The results obtained from a soil resistivity test<br />

• Individual grounding electrode system component testing data from the clamp-on ohmmeter<br />

• Grounding electrode system layout map/specifications<br />

• Detailed “as-built” drawings <strong>for</strong> the site<br />
