CLAMP-ON OHMMETER TESTING PROCEDURE APPENDIX D: GROUNDING (EARTHING) ELECTRODE SYSTEM TESTING/VERIFICATION
Meter placed at this point will
“see” single grounding electrode
(or multiple grounding
electrodes) as one grounding
electrode and obtain an accurate
measurement.
Meter placed at this point
around ALL THREE conductors
will “see” all three grounding
electrodes as one grounding
electrode. As such, an accurate
measurement is achieved.
Multiple grounding electrodes
bonded above ground
Power Company feed
ELECTRIC METER
(UTILITY)
To Telco or other utility connections
Meter must be placed BELOW this point
Clamp-on Ohmmeter
Single grounding electrode
(or multiple grounding
electrodes bonded
underground)
Power Company feed
ELECTRIC METER
(UTILITY)
To Telco or other utility connections
Meter must be placed BELOW this point
Meter placed at this point will
“see” ONLY a single electrode
instead of all three. As such,
an INACCURATE
measurement will result.
