6.2.4 INTERIOR ELECTRIC<br />

The following requirements shall be observed when specifying <strong>and</strong> installing interior electrical service:<br />

• All panel boards <strong>and</strong> switch boards shall display signage <strong>and</strong> placarding per NFPA 70-2005,<br />

Article 110.22 <strong>and</strong> applicable local codes.<br />

• When designing a site floor plan with electrical panels utilizing voltages of 600 VAC or less, a<br />

clearance of 914 mm (36 in.) shall be provided in front of any electrical panel in accordance with<br />

NFPA 70-2005, Article 110.26.<br />

• A working space equal to the width of the equipment or 762 mm (30 in.), whichever is greater,<br />

shall be provided in accordance with NFPA 70-2005, Article 110.26.<br />

• Additional clearance shall be provided based on the voltage present in electrical panel exceeding<br />

120/240 VAC. See Figure 6-2.<br />

• Equipment that operates on 48 VDC, or 600 VAC require different clearance. Clearance shall be in<br />

accordance with NFPA 70-2005, Article 110.26, or applicable local codes.<br />

• All internal wiring shall be copper. (see NFPA 70-2005, Article 110.5 <strong>for</strong> additional in<strong>for</strong>mation).<br />

• Power panels, load centers, <strong>and</strong> breaker boxes shall be identified using distinctive placarding/<br />

labeling identifying their purpose <strong>and</strong> location of the main service disconnect. (See NFPA 70-2005,<br />

Article 110.22 <strong>and</strong> Figure 8-3 <strong>for</strong> additional in<strong>for</strong>mation.)<br />

• Wire, terminals <strong>and</strong> lugs shall be of similar or compatible metals (NFPA 70-2005, Article 110.14).<br />
