1.4 STANDARDS<br />

WARNING<br />

Do not sweep dry floors when rodent droppings are evident. To prevent hantavirus<br />

infection, the floor shall be mopped in a safe <strong>and</strong> sanitary manner using a 5:1 water/<br />

bleach mixture. Personnel working at the site shall wash h<strong>and</strong>s be<strong>for</strong>e eating <strong>and</strong> avoid<br />

touching mouth, nose, or eyes until site is sufficiently clean.<br />

WARNING<br />

When operating any kind of power tool, always wear appropriate safety glasses <strong>and</strong><br />

other protective gear to prevent injury.<br />

• In the United States:<br />

• all applicable OSHA <strong>st<strong>and</strong>ards</strong> shall be adhered to.<br />

• Ladders shall be OSHA approved <strong>for</strong> electrical work.<br />

• In installations at nuclear power plants <strong>and</strong> fuel processing facilities, the laws, rules <strong>and</strong><br />

regulations of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) policy <strong>and</strong> customer policy shall be<br />

observed.<br />

Table 1-1 lists all published <strong>st<strong>and</strong>ards</strong> cited throughout this manual. All local <strong>and</strong> jurisdictional codes<br />

<strong>and</strong> safety <strong>st<strong>and</strong>ards</strong>, whether incidental or superseding to <strong>st<strong>and</strong>ards</strong> specified in this manual, shall be<br />

followed while developing a site, installing equipment, or per<strong>for</strong>ming maintenance.<br />
