A VIEW
FROM THE TOUCHLINE
I would like to wish you all a very warm welcome to The
Limestone Construction Field, Monks Sports Club this
afternoon for our game against Beverley in the National
Conference League Division Two.
We welcome the players, supporters and committee of Beverley to Woolston and hope
that they have had a safe journey and enjoy our hospitality.
Last week’s game against Dewsbury Celtic was a ‘proper’ game of Rugby League; no
quarter asked or given with both sides trying with all they had to get the win; the spirit
in which the game was played was really good, tough but fair throughout. Fortunately,
from our point of view the boys were able to show that little bit of extra composure late
on to ensure we got the victory. It just goes to show that this division is going to be so
competitive, and we need to make sure we are properly focused each week, starting
today against a Beverley side who have always provided us with hard fought games
over the past few seasons.
Our NWML side were due to face Crosfields ‘A’ last weekend, but we asked Soap if
they would re-arrange the game for a later date which they very kindly agreed to do,
and we really appreciate that. It goes to show that when you have good people running
your club, decisions like this can be made. We may be enemies for eighty minutes on
a Saturday afternoon but at the end of the day we all want to see the game of Rugby
League flourish and the more games that can get played, through mutual co-operation,
the better.
You will see in the programme the fixtures for our Junior teams who play tomorrow. We
have plenty of excellent players (and coaches) within our Junior ranks so if you have a
spare hour or two in the morning please try and get along and show them your support.
There are four games at home if you fancy coming down to the club whilst there are
seven away fixtures if you want to support the teams on their travels. Also, before our
NCL game today our Under 13s side will be facing Waterhead Warriors; if you can get
down early then the young lads would appreciate your support. Kick off is 12.45pm.
Thanks for your attendance today and we hope to see you again very soon. Why not
bring a friend along with you next time and introduce them to the Rovers!!!
Enjoy the game
