Session 3B — E. Arseniuk and P.C. Czembor
3. The reported data indicate that
the interaction between S.
nodorum isolates of the wheat
biotype and wheat and triticale
genotypes to a great extent is
more a matter of statistics than a
well defined physiological
specialization. Whether the
interaction is detected or not
depends upon the amount of
disease inflicted by the pathogen
isolates on selected host
genotypes, the effect of
environmental conditions on
disease development, and the
tools and precision with which
the host has been examined.
Acknowledgments
This study was financially
supported by the ICD-RSE-FAS-
USDA (Project no. PL-AES-241,
Grant no. MR-USDA-93-139) and
by the Plant Breeding and
Acclimatization Institute. The
technical assistance of T. Bajor, E.
