The Dining car serves hot breakfast, lunch and dinner for both Coach and Sleeping car passengers. All Dining car meals are included in the price of a Sleeping car ticket. Choose from several entrées from rotating seasonal menus prepared by our chefs, including regional and evening specials on select trains. Typical breakfast selections may include French toast, omelets or a marketplace special with meat side dishes. Lunch and dinner entrées may feature burgers, salads, chicken or a vegetarian special, and children’s meals are also available. If you have certain food restrictions, just let us know. Vegan and kosher meals are available with 72-hour advance notice. An array of beverage, appetizer and dessert items complete your dining experience. Compelling as they are, the panoramic views and tasty dishes aren’t the only reasons to be a regular in the Dining car. Enjoying a meal in the Dining car also gives you the opportunity to meet other passengers and share stories over great food as the countryside glides past your window. Everyday and Membership DISCOUNTS Check out our 15%* Student Advantage Discount. EVERYDAY DISCOUNTS SENIORS* Travelers aged 62 and over receive a 15% discount on the rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package. Valid government-issued ID may be requested as proof of age. The senior discount is not applicable for travel on Auto Train and certain Amtrak Thruway connecting services. The discount is available on Acela Express trains on weekends only. On cross-border services operated jointly by Amtrak and VIA ® Rail Canada, a 10% senior discount is applicable to travelers aged 60 and over. CHILDREN* Children aged 2 to 15 receive a 50% discount on the rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package when accompanied by at least one person paying an adult rail fare. Up to two children’s discounts are permitted in conjunction with each adult traveler. Children under age 2 are permitted to travel free of any rail fare, provided they do not occupy a separate seat if the seat is needed for any passenger aged 2 and over. One child under age two is permitted to travel free with each adult traveler (additional children under age 2 may travel under the 50% discount policy described above). MILITARY* Active-duty military personnel, their spouses and their dependents receive a 10% discount on the rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package, including on Auto Train. Valid active-duty United States Armed Forces ID required. Kids travel 1/2 off* on Amtrak. GROUP TRAVEL* Share the Amtrak experience as a group. Passengers traveling together in groups of 20 or more receive a discount of up to 20% off the normal rail fare of an Amtrak Vacations package, or a free escort ticket for each 20 travelers. These discount options are offered at Amtrak’s discretion. Note that group space may be limited and group travel requests are subject to approval based on space availability. MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS RESERVATIONS FOR ALL MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNTS MUST BE MADE AT LEAST THREE DAYS IN ADVANCE OF DEPARTURE. AMERICAN AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (AAA)* / ** AAA members and their immediate family members (husband, wife and / or dependent children) receive a 10% discount on the Amtrak rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package as part of the Auto Club’s “Show Your Card and Save” program. A valid AAA membership card and valid photo ID must be provided at time of ticket purchase, and at time of travel, to receive the discount. STUDENT ADVANTAGE* / ** With the Student Advantage card, all college students and high school juniors and seniors receive a 15% discount on the Amtrak rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package. A valid Student Advantage card, along with a school ID card and a valid photo ID must be provided at time of ticket purchase, and at time of travel, to receive the discount. INTERNATIONAL STUDENT IDENTITY CARD (ISIC)* / ** Students holding the ISIC are eligible for a 15% discount on the Amtrak rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package. A valid ISIC and a valid photo ID must be provided at time of ticket purchase, and at time of travel, to receive the discount. VETERANS ADVANTAGE* / ** Veterans Advantage members receive a 15% discount on the rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package. A valid Veterans Advantage membership card and a valid photo ID must be provided at time of ticket purchase, and at time of travel, to receive the discount. NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RAILROAD PASSENGERS (NARP)* / ** Members of the NARP receive a 10% discount on the rail portion of an Amtrak Vacations package. NARP members must provide a valid, personalized NARP membership card and a photo ID at time of ticket purchase, and at time of travel, to receive the discount. *Sleeping car, Business class and First class upgrades are permitted upon payment of full accommodations charges. The discounts are valid in Business class on Acela Express on Saturdays, Sundays and select holidays. For Auto Train service, cardholders receive a discount off rail fare only but not the vehicle charge.
