7 A CHOICE FOR LIFE! Your choice of pilot school may be the most important choice of your career. Thus, examine the market carefully. It is important that you choose a school at which you can see yourself spending hundreds of hours and where you meet people you trust. Most importantly, you should choose a pilot academy which you believe will help you to become the best version of yourself. It is crucial that you believe that the staff is competent, and it is equally important that you consider yourself in good hands both financially as well as security-wise. For that reason, we do not focus only on practical skills; an important part of the education is the development of your attitude as well as the competences that enable you to make the right decisions in stressful situations. WE FLY GREEN At GreyBird, we fly in state-of-the-art Tecnam airplanes. The airplanes are both designed and manufactured in the current millennium. Not only that; they are green, using only 15-20 liters of fuel per hour per engine, and they make very little noise compared to older types. The aircraft can fly on unleaded fuel. Read more about why you should choose GreyBird THE BEST FUTURE PILOTS With the Tecnam planes, GreyBird offers a product not yet matched in the European aviation industry. We offer more complex flying lessons in modern aircraft at the same price as you will find in less attractive programmes. A pilot who has recently graduated from GreyBird has a total of 205 flying hours – 137 of which are flown in state-of-the-art Tecnam planes. We believe that this gives you the best education and the best stepping-stone for your future career. In the final module of the education, you will spend 40 hours in an FNPT II MCC Airbus A320 simulator. In this part of the education, you will complete your APS MCC course, which must be completed in a simulator. When you graduate from GreyBird, you will have flown 62 hours in a real multi-engine airplane, and in addition, you will have spent 25 hours in our procedure simulator which is an exact replica of the aircraft. When you are investigating your flight academy options, pay close attention to the number of hours of real flying time in real multi-engine airplanes. Frequently, a considerable part takes place in a simulator that is different from the aircraft, and even more often, many flight training organizations use single-engine aircraft to conduct IFR training. It is cheaper, but it provides negative training and is less valuable than multi-engine training.
8 A PAY-BY-MODULE SETUP At GreyBird, you do not need to pay all or even most of your flying lessons in advance. You will pay an entrance fee, and you will pay at the beginning of each of the four modules. This means that you pay for your education as you progress, and most of the education is paid when you have passed all the theoretical exams. In addition, the pay-by-module setup gives you an easy overview of your financial progress during the entire education process. SMARTBIRD HELPS We have developed our own digital platform for administering the education. The system is called SmartBird and will be your helping hand throughout the education to keep track of how close you are to your dream of becoming a commercial pilot. In SmartBird you have the full overview of the finances in relation to the education, as well as the progress of your lessons. In SmartBird, it is also visible where each lesson belongs, so for each lesson, you can see which module the lesson belongs to.
