14 HOW TO GET STARTED At GreyBird, we recommend that you arrange a personal meeting with us. At least one person from the school management will attend. Afterwards, we will show you our school, and perhaps most importantly, you will get a chance to ask all your questions in a forum of only you and us. You can start your commercial pilot education at different bases and in different languages. THE REQUIREMENTS Many people have an incorrect perception of what it takes to become a commercial pilot. Perhaps you know some of the requirements from the air force, or you may have heard urban legends. The requirements for flying airliners are far from the same as the requirements in the military. For instance, it is OK to wear glasses or contact lenses; there are no special requirements to your height; and a broken leg or any other broken bones will not be a hindrance. Your physical and mental health must be good, which is the case for most young people. You do not need to have top grades from school, and there are no requirements for specific subjects. In fact, you do not need a high school diploma at all. You must have passed what corresponds to the ninth-grade final exams of the primary and lower secondary school, and you must be at least 18 years old. To enroll at GreyBird, you also need to pass an admission test and produce a certificate of clean criminal record.
