Tracy Thomas is an
Australian painter and
artist who lives and works
in Lake Macquarie. She
uses contemporary
abstract and impressionist approach
in her paintings.
From a young age, Tracy has been
artistic. A natural gift brought forward
by tragic loss, blessed her with eyes
to see the world from a different
view and perhaps select a brush
of kindness, love, and healing. She
paints because she feels compelled
to. She awakens from her slumber
and begins to doodle her thoughts.
She senses the energy flowing
through her hands and knows she
has to paint or write it down as soon
as possible. She can flick a rag, hurl
paint, or brush a stroke; either way,
she's lost in an amazing meditative
state.
Tracy is so engrossed in her art,
that she would even set an alarm
on her phone to remind her to do
the dishes and pick up her children
from school. It's as if there's a great
universal flow coursing through her
entire body and onto the canvas,
potentially similar to electricity.
“When you know you are painting
something that will heal someone
else or that will bring a smile into
a room, you start to see the vision
so clearly from the beginning. The

Sheikh Zayed mural gets
recognized by Guinness World Records
A
mural depicting a mental
map of Sheikh Zayed
bin Sultan Al Nahyan,
founding father of the
UAE, has received
recognition from the Guinness World
Records, which has declared it the
largest artwork of its kind in the
world.
The art, which was created by
the Ministry of Interior’s Innovation
Centre, is the world’s largest mental
mapping mural. It is on display
in Al Sufouh, Dubai, at the Police
Academy square.
A mental map, also known as a
mind map, is a graphic that shows
how a person thinks or sees things.
The work depicts a portrait of the

Sheikh Zayed is remembered in
UAE history as a visionary whose
ambitions for the country helped it to
become what it is today.
Dubai has a long history of setting
world records, with achievements
ranging from the bizarre to the
inventive (“largest hand-woven
spiral place mat” and “largest flower
petal carpet”). As of late 2019, the
UAE had 339 records, with Dubai
accounting for 225 of them.

Radio Day
Radio is a strong medium
from ages for honoring
mankind in all of its
diversity, as well as
providing a forum for
democratic debate. It is still one of
the most frequently used mediums.
Radio has the power to impact a
society's experience of diversity by
serving as an arena for all voices
to speak up, be represented, and
be heard because of its unique
ability to reach out to the biggest
possible audience. February 13
was declared as World Radio Day
in 2011 by the UNESCO Member
States and was adopted as an
International Day by the United
Nations General Assembly in
2012.
The radio is a medium that
has sustained its usage over
time. It is a platform for providing
information, educating people,
allowing expression across
cultures, and of course, playing all
our favorite music.
World Radio Day 2022, honors
radio's contribution to humanity's
history by tracking changes in our
society and adapting its services.
Radio evolves in tandem with
the rest of the world. During the
Covid-19 pandemic, radio made
it possible to maintain learning
continuity, combat misinformation,
and promote barrier gestures.
Radio stations cater to a wide
range of communities by providing
a diverse range of programs,
perspectives, and content, as well
as reflecting the diversity of their
audiences in their operations and
organizations.
Without using any expensive
content or videography, radio is
the only broadcast medium today
that delivers entertainment, local
news, sports updates, discussions,
great music, and is an effective
way for marketing. During those
long drives for vacation or maybe
to work, the radio is still with us,
keeping us singing and keeping
us informed. No matter how
advanced technology becomes,
radio is an irreplaceable
medium.

New Museums
to look out for in
2022
Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza
The Grand Egyptian Museum
in Giza, Egypt, is set to open
in November and will house
100,000 ancient Egyptian items
over roughly 500,000 square
metres. Former Egyptian President
Hosni Mubarak began the
initiative 20 years ago, and it has
experienced numerous setbacks,
including the Covid-19 pandemic.
The project, which was designed
by Heneghan Peng, a Dublinbased
architecture firm, is reported
to have cost $1 billion and was
funded by Japanese government
loans.
Pharaoh Khufu's "solar barque,"
a ritual vessel that would take the
pharaoh to the skies after death,
will be on display at the Grand
Egyptian Museum. The 45-meter
ship, one of Egypt's and the world's
oldest relics, was transferred to the
museum in August 2021.

Museum of the Future, Dubai
The Museum of the Future in
Dubai, was named one of the
most beautiful museums in
the world by National Geographic
last year. The building is nearly
complete, and exhibitions are being
set up, the opening date is 22nd
February, 2022.
The museum's mission is wide
and aspirational, with goals such
as "light in dark times." Exhibitions,
an immersive theatre, and a
variety of themed attractions and
entertainment events will be part
of the space's programming. Most
notably, the museum will address
the elements of a future society,
including space travel, climate
change and ecology, health and
wellbeing, and the makings of a
future society.
The National Museum, Oslo
The Nasjonalmuseet in Oslo,
which opens in June, will
feature a diverse collection of
artworks and artifacts dating from
antiquity to the current day.
The museum combines the
holdings of three Norwegian
organizations, notably the
National Gallery, the Museum of
Contemporary Art, and the Museum
of Decorative Arts and Design.
More than 5,000 works from the
Nasjonalmuseet's permanent
collection, which totals 47,000
pieces, will be on display.
Edvard Munch's ‘The Scream’,
one of the world's most famous
paintings, will be on exhibit
opposite one of Vincent van Gogh's
self-portraits. A rooftop space
for contemporary art exhibitions,
a library, and a cafe will also be
included in the museum.

Robot Science Museum, Seoul
The Robot Science Museum in
South Korea's capital, Seoul,
is scheduled to open in late
2022 and will be created utilizing
robotic building techniques and
drones. Melike Altinisik Architects
designed the museum, which
includes a curved exterior that will
be molded and erected by robots,
with some concrete landscaping
to be 3D-printed. It will serve
to support public education in
robots and promote technology
and innovation through exhibitions
on the design, manufacture and
construction of robots and the
robotics industry.
Musée de Cluny, Paris
The Musee de Cluny in Paris,
which has been closed for
restoration since 2015, will
reopen in the spring. The museum,
which is tied to the Du Sommerard
family, was founded in the 19th
century and serves as France's
national Middle Ages museum.
The restoration of the Gallo-
Roman baths on the lower floors,
as well as the preservation of a
medieval mansion and chapel,
are all part of the renovations.The
museum is undergoing renovations
that involve the expansion of its
reception areas as well as the
building of ramps and elevators to
improve accessibility for disabled
visitors.

Bob Dylan Centre
The Bob Dylan Centre in
Tulsa, Oklahoma, which
opens in May, will house
more than 100,000 artifacts from
the American musician Bob
Dylan, whose music influenced
the development of rock and roll
in the 1960s and 1970s. Dylan's
notebooks, letters, paintings,
and manuscripts are included in
the collection, which show the
musician's inspirations throughout
his long career. These objects
will also look at Dylan's lyrical
side, as he has produced poetry
collections and won the Nobel
Prize in Literature in 2016.
Burrell Collection, Glasgow
The Burrell Collection in
Glasgow, which is set to
open in March, has over
9,000 works of art in its collection.
The collection was founded
by William Burrell, a Scottish
shipping merchant who collected
antiques and items throughout the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries
and presented them to the city of
Glasgow.
The structure, built by John
McAslan + Partners, replaces the
collection's previous home, which
dates from the 1970s. There are
now gallery spaces as well as a
learning center.

Seattle NFT Museum
Seattle NFT Museum was
founded by art-loving,
community-focused
entrepreneurs, Jennifer Wong
and Peter Hamilton who live in
Seattle's Belltown, where the
museum is located. It is the
first permanent NFT museum in
Seattle. Viewing digital art in a
physical space helps to ground
the NFT experience, unlocking our
imaginations for what is to come.
Seattle NFT Museum creators saw
an opportunity to bring the digital
art and NFT community together
while providing exposure and
education. Featuring influential
artists, coveted collections,
and new mintings, this Belltown
show room is a place to educate
and connect the budding NFT
community in the Pacific Northwest
while introducing it to works and
artists from around the world.
Reefline Miami
Developed by BlueLab
Preservation Society in
partnership with the City
of Miami Beach, the ReefLine will
feature environmentally-functioning
artworks by major international
artists and designers, to be
completed in several phases,
with the first phase slated to open
Spring / Summer 2022.
The 7 mile underwater public
sculpture park, snorkel trail and
artificial reef will be located
off Miami Beach’s shoreline.
Conceived by BlueLab’s Chair
Ximena Caminos, Vice Chair Kate
Fleming and Coral Morphologic,
in close consultation with a team
of expert marine biologists,
researchers, architects and
coastal engineers, the ReefLine
will begin at fourth street on South
Beach and run north, providing a
critical habitat for endangered reef
organisms, promoting biodiversity
and enhancing coastal resilience.

Dubai Art Season returns with
a mix of artistic and cultural events

Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai
Culture), the Authority announced
that during February and March,
the Dubai Art Season (DAS) 2022
will host a unique mix of artistic and
cultural events.
The theme for this year’s edition
is ‘Take a Walk on the Art Side,’
which will transform Dubai into
an ‘open art display’ that enables
citizens, residents, and visitors to
enjoy outstanding experiences. The
presence of artists from the UAE,
the region, and around the world at
these events is expected to add to
the emirate’s burgeoning cultural
scene.
DAS 2022 will host a two-monthlong
arts and cultural festival, which
will kick off with the Emirates Airline

“Every 2-3 years my style evolves a bit to keep it interesting for myself,”
says Peter Terrin

Peter Terrin is an artist
from Belgium who has
always been drawn to art.
There were no defining
or critical moments in his
life that determined his path. His
need to paint has always been as
essential to his mental and spiritual
well-being as breathing and eating.
After graduating from a textile
design school in Belgium, he spent
years traveling and reinforcing his
enthusiasm for people.
Peter traveled the world and
worked in the hotel industry as an
entertainer. He used to build sets for
the big shows at night in the resorts.
Lots of painting and building involved
Peter
combines pallet
knives and acrylic
paint on large-scale
canvas to portray
emotions, moods, and
feelings. This distinctive
painting style gives
his work a lively
expression.

but it wasn’t the artistic career he
had hoped for. He ended up working
in Mexico and it was there that he
decided to quit his job to persue art.
Peter paints with heavy body
acrylics and uses big pallet knives
to do so. Once that part is done, he
uses more fluid acrylics to splash
paint over his canvas. Of course, he
did not invent the usage of a pallet
knife, but it became popular over
time. To keep things exciting for
himself, he changes his style every 2
to 3 years. He supposes his style can
be classified as a modern form of
expressionism.
Peter combines pallet knives and
acrylic paint on large-scale canvas
to portray emotions, moods, and
feelings. This distinctive painting style
gives his work a lively expression.
He blends several artistic styles
and incorporates different ideas to
produce something more than just a
portrait.
Mexico's amazing blend of things
drives him insane; the way they live,
their customs, their cuisine, their
family values, their music, and the
spectacular brilliant colors with which
they paint their homes. If he had
to sum up this subject in a single
line, he'd answer, "Mexico gave me
colors."

Rodriguez

Albeniz Rodriguez, a
master of caricatures
and a digital artist from
Santo Domingo, was
born in the Dominican
Republic. His career began when
he was very young, and soon after
being a classic artist, he got drawn
to the world of digital art.
His works have a contemporary
and comical style, with vibrant and
bright colors that reflect his outgoing
and communicative attitude. He
enjoys caricature and portraying
people and animals, analyzing their
features in order to communicate
their actual essence and make them
able to grin.
At the age of thirteen, he made
his first caricature for his father.
In 1992, he began working as an
illustrator for the Santo Domingo
Ministry of Education. Then came
the delight of winning the first prize
for a caricature of the President of
the Dominican Republic that was
published in a local weekly.
His sources of inspiration are

Sky Views is the newest
attraction in Dubai.
The wait is over for thrill addicts
in Dubai, as the recently opened
Sky View Dubai allows them to slide
down from a high-rise building or
walk along a ledge hundreds of feet
above. Address Sky View, a threepart
attraction in Downtown Dubai,
opened its doors to the public in
November, providing visitors an
observatory, glass slide, and edgewalk

The observatory, which is located

Monira Al Qadiri
It is an otherworldly creature, a
metamorphosis of an oil drill and
an octopus. The gigantic ‘Chimera’
sculpture sits in the Opportunity
District made by Kuwaiti artist
Monira Al Qadiri. Its iridescent
surface shines with the intensity of
pearls, a nod to the UAE’s 8,000-
year history with pearl diving, and
looks to the future when oil was
discovered at the same time.

Erick Centeno Ohlitas is a
Peruvian artist who resides
in Genoa, Italy. Art has
always been close to him
since his father was an
avid painter and taught him how to
produce them. He began his artistic
journey by making realistic drawings
with pencils and then got attracted
by the scribble technique.
When Erick moved from Peru to
Italy in 1999, everything changed
for him. His focus completely fell on
academics and art took a back seat
until he realized how much he was
missing out on and retrieved the first
sketches he drew with his father. He
realized that producing art helped
him feel better and now art is part of
his daily life.
Becoming more aware of his
surroundings, he is constantly struck
by new ideas. For instance, when he
walks down the street or watches a
movie, he observes keenly how he
can replicate it into his art giving it his
personal touch.
“When I draw, I feel good and
relaxed, and I disconnect from many
things. At first, I always have an idea
running through my head, not just
about the subject to be drawn, but
also about how I should do it and
what tools to use; all of this creates
an expectation, and I'm not quiet until
I start to make the first lines on paper;
many times, I don't like the artwork,
but I learn to finish it anyway” says
Erick.
Erick's journey is still long, but he
is on the right track. He particularly
likes portraits with strong contrast
and sharp expressions, as well as
moving scenes such as dancers and
sports. Many excellent artists have
honed their abilities in this sector, and
he has learned to appreciate various
sorts of art as well as learn about
other artists that are similar to him.
He is still improving and developing
his technique by seeking out new
sources of inspiration, honing his
approach via practice, and exploring
new kinds of art.

who is known for his

graffiti writing. Joos van Barneveld,
better known as DOES, was born in
Veghel, The Netherlands, in 1982.
In 1997 he discovered graffiti, a
passion that coerced him into a
double life.
For over a decade, he was forced
to combine the daily expectations of
working as an extremely sought-after
skilled athlete with the covert nightly
secrets of an established graffiti
writer. When an injury terminated
his athletic pursuits at the age of 28,

his focus to art.
In his drawings and paintings on

A CELEBRATORY PIECE
The Malaysia Pavilion, in collaboration with Emirati artist Shatha Essa Al Mulla, has presented Expo 2020
Dubai with a beautiful artwork in honour of the UAE’s Golden Jubilee. The art was created after the Emirati
artist and designer used the Expo 2020 Business App – Expo 2020’s official business platform, designed
to facilitate business connections before and during the event – to explore expanding her business in
Malaysia. Al Mulla worked closely with Malaysian artists, under the guidance of the Malaysian Green
Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), to build 50 cones that represent 50 sand dunes of
the UAE.

PILLAR OF FORTITUDE
Pillar of Fortitude by Helidon Xhixha, is

THE TREE OF LIGHTS
Downtown’s newest hotspot has added
an impressive art installation, set to take
centre stage at the venue. The Tree of
Lights is an overgrown juniper bonsai tree
that has been reimagined and imbued with
light. Created by the expert team of artists
and engineers at San Francisco based
Color+Light, the incredible tree stands an
impressive 18 foot tall and 20 foot wide,
with a base measuring 6-foot. One of only
a handful of similar creations in the world,
from the Burning Man to Urla, the Tree of

Colour’ which will paint and
illuminate Downtown Dubai
in a kaleidoscope of colours
using lights and lasers. There
are shows five days a week.
From Wednesday to Friday,
there are two shows that take
place, the first at 7.45pm and
the second at 9.45pm. On the
(new) weekend, Saturday and
Sunday, there are three shows
taking place at 7.45pm, 8.15pm
and 9.45pm. World of Colour’s
light and colour performance
will be paired with stunning
video content which will see
vibrant colours splashing
around the world’s largest LED
screen.

The ‘Ajman Art Touring’ initiative

latest initiative, ‘Ajman Art Touring,’
to exhibit the works and paintings

recently launched Al Murabba
Arts Festival, in collaboration with
strategic partners from the emirates
hospitality sector. The Ajman Art

Coolest Winter’ program, which

“Everyone has their own way of artistic
expression, what I like may not be the same
as what you like,” says Zhao Xiaoli
- Exclusive to Magzoid
Zhao Xiaoli is an artist
based in China whose
works express the
confusion and depression
of girlhood, combining
retro style with current trends to form
a collage of self-expression.
Being a Master of Fine Arts
graduate from Autonomous
University of Barcelona, she
innovates the dissemination of artistic
creation in the form of short videos.
The main subject of her paintings are
women and flowers. She believes
that the beauty between women
and flowers is interlinked. Zhao
Xiaoli draws some of her thoughts
and feelings into the pieces that she
works on. She feels everyone has
their own artistic expression. Many
characters and feelings conveyed in
her paintings are somewhat similar to
herself.
It has been two years since she
has relied on images and paintings
to enter everyone’s field of vision.
“Looking back on the past few years,
I am lucky, fortunate in the tolerance
and change of the times, but there
has been hardships and ridicule that
I have had to face. Some people say
that I am a pioneer of exploration,
while others sneer at me,” says Zhao
Xiaoli.
With over 20 million followers on
her social media platforms, she was
announced Douyin Person of the
Year, has held numerous exhibitions
in art galleries and has been
reported by well-known media at
home and abroad.

opened in 2019, the Al
Barza majlis in Qasr Al
Watan is receiving visitors.
An Emirati majlis is a place of
assembly and council that can
accommodate up to 300 people
and is lavishly furnished with crystal
chandeliers and gold accents.

Qasr Al Watan about the facility,
“the Emirati majlis is the UAE’s
deep-rooted cultural tradition of
convening meetings for members
of the community to deliberate

Gucci gives the world a taste
of Italian fashion and seals
each design with its stamp of
approval: the Gucci symbol.
Gucci was established by a man
named Guccio Gucci. The Italian
immigrant began the brand in
1921 after working in a Parisian
hotel. The combination of having a
leather craftsman father and seeing
luxurious luggage within the hotels
led Gucci to start his own high-end
leather shop in Florence. Working
in the hotels helped give Gucci
an understanding of the luxury
consumer – this influenced his
brand decisions.
The official Gucci logo hasn’t
changed much since the 1930s,
when one of Gucci’s sons recreated
his father’s mark. Aldo Gucci
designed the interlaced double
G logo, representing his father’s
initials. The meaning of the word
“Gucci” represents, Excellence,
Greatness, Fashionable, and Fine.
The shape of the logo also mimics
the links of a bracelet, which gives
some strength to the company’s
position as a luxury brand. The
iconic symbol is one of the most
recognizable emblems in the world,
and it now appears on countless
fashion products produced by the
brand. The Gucci logo acts as a

Mercedes-Benz was created by
two visionary men with a common
passion for engineering and
mechanics: Karl Benz and Gottlieb
Daimler. Karl Benz established
Benz & Cie. and Gottlieb Daimler
established DMG. In 1900, the
“Mercedes” car was developed by
DMG, but the brand experienced a
roadblock when the war broke out
in Germany, as it made gasoline
unaffordable for drivers. Fastforward
to 1926, DMG and Benz
& Cie. merged into Daimler-Benz.
In 1927, around 7,000 Mercedes-
Benz cars were produced and it
proved to be a profitable merger.
The Mercedes-Benz W15 emerged
three-years later and fast became
one of the most desirable vehicles
on the market.
The brainchild of the sons of
Gottlieb Daimler, Paul and Adolf
Daimler, the original Mercedes-
Benz logo was a gold star.
Inspiration for this design came
from a symbol used by their father
to mark family postcards. Through
the evolution of Mercedes-Benz,
the logo was altered and eventually
became a white star at the center
of a thick circular border with
detailing around the edges. Today,
a silver circle with a Three-Pointed
Star in the center is now recognized
as the Mercedes-Benz logo. While
the logo meaning was rooted in
family, it now has come to represent
the strength and prevalence of
Daimler engines on the land, on the
sea, and in the air.
