ARTIST STORIES | INSPIRE & EMPOWER<br />

Abstract and<br />

Impressionist<br />

Style<br />

By Tracy Thomas<br />

<strong>February</strong> <strong>2022</strong><br />

www.magzoid.com

“I look forward to<br />

this ever-expand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

artistic journey. I am<br />

forever <strong>in</strong> love with<br />

<strong>the</strong> process,” says<br />

Tracy Thomas<br />

- Exclusive to <strong>Magzoid</strong><br />

Tracy Thomas is an<br />

Australian pa<strong>in</strong>ter and<br />

artist who lives and works<br />

<strong>in</strong> Lake Macquarie. She<br />

uses contemporary<br />

abstract and impressionist approach<br />

<strong>in</strong> her pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs.<br />

From a young age, Tracy has been<br />

artistic. A natural gift brought forward<br />

by tragic loss, blessed her with eyes<br />

to see <strong>the</strong> world from a different<br />

view and perhaps select a brush<br />

of k<strong>in</strong>dness, love, and heal<strong>in</strong>g. She<br />

pa<strong>in</strong>ts because she feels compelled<br />

to. She awakens from her slumber<br />

and beg<strong>in</strong>s to doodle her thoughts.<br />

She senses <strong>the</strong> energy flow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

through her hands and knows she<br />

has to pa<strong>in</strong>t or write it down as soon<br />

as possible. She can flick a rag, hurl<br />

pa<strong>in</strong>t, or brush a stroke; ei<strong>the</strong>r way,<br />

she's lost <strong>in</strong> an amaz<strong>in</strong>g meditative<br />

state.<br />

Tracy is so engrossed <strong>in</strong> her art,<br />

that she would even set an alarm<br />

on her phone to rem<strong>in</strong>d her to do<br />

<strong>the</strong> dishes and pick up her children<br />

from school. It's as if <strong>the</strong>re's a great<br />

universal flow cours<strong>in</strong>g through her<br />

entire body and onto <strong>the</strong> canvas,<br />

potentially similar to electricity.<br />

“When you know you are pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>g<br />

someth<strong>in</strong>g that will heal someone<br />

else or that will br<strong>in</strong>g a smile <strong>in</strong>to<br />

a room, you start to see <strong>the</strong> vision<br />

so clearly from <strong>the</strong> beg<strong>in</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g. The<br />

She senses <strong>the</strong> energy<br />

flow<strong>in</strong>g through her<br />

hands and knows she has<br />

to pa<strong>in</strong>t or write it down<br />

as soon as possible. She<br />

can flick a rag, hurl pa<strong>in</strong>t,<br />

or brush a stroke; ei<strong>the</strong>r<br />

way, she's lost <strong>in</strong> an<br />

amaz<strong>in</strong>g meditative state.<br />

old cliche that art heals <strong>the</strong> world<br />

is not <strong>in</strong>correct. Art does move <strong>the</strong><br />

world and does heal it. Many of my<br />

pa<strong>in</strong>t<strong>in</strong>gs have brought my clients to<br />

tears and moved <strong>the</strong>m to buy many.<br />

The feel<strong>in</strong>g of joy overcomes me<br />

simply know<strong>in</strong>g this and that is why I<br />

must create and I must pa<strong>in</strong>t,” says<br />

Tracy.<br />

Erick Centeno<br />

Erick Centeno Ohlitas is a<br />

Peruvian artist who resides<br />

<strong>in</strong> Genoa, Italy. Art has<br />

always been close to him<br />

s<strong>in</strong>ce his fa<strong>the</strong>r was an<br />

avid pa<strong>in</strong>ter and taught him how to<br />

produce <strong>the</strong>m. He began his artistic<br />

journey by mak<strong>in</strong>g realistic draw<strong>in</strong>gs<br />

by <strong>the</strong> scribble technique.<br />

When Erick moved from Peru to<br />

what tools to use; all of this creates<br />

an expectation, and I'm not quiet until<br />

I start to make <strong>the</strong> first l<strong>in</strong>es on paper;<br />

many times, I don't like <strong>the</strong> artwork,<br />

but I learn to f<strong>in</strong>ish it anyway” says<br />

Erick.<br />

Erick's journey is still long, but he<br />

is on <strong>the</strong> right track. He particularly<br />

likes portraits with strong contrast<br />

and sharp expressions, as well as<br />

mov<strong>in</strong>g scenes such as dancers and<br />

sports. Many excellent artists have<br />

honed <strong>the</strong>ir abilities <strong>in</strong> this sector, and<br />

he has learned to appreciate various<br />

sorts of art as well as learn about<br />

lovers and friends<br />

exchange letters,<br />

chocolates,<br />

jewelry and o<strong>the</strong>r gifts <strong>in</strong> honor of<br />

Valent<strong>in</strong>e's Day. While this popular<br />

holiday has become known for<br />

its sweet gestures like cards and<br />

romantic d<strong>in</strong>ner ideas for two, <strong>the</strong><br />

history of Valent<strong>in</strong>e's Day is not<br />

Valent<strong>in</strong>e's Day, also known as<br />

Sa<strong>in</strong>t Valent<strong>in</strong>e's Day or <strong>the</strong> Feast<br />

of Sa<strong>in</strong>t Valent<strong>in</strong>e, is observed on<br />

<strong>February</strong> 14 every year. It began<br />

as a Christian feast day honor<strong>in</strong>g<br />

one or two early Christian martyrs<br />

named Sa<strong>in</strong>t Valent<strong>in</strong>e and has<br />

s<strong>in</strong>ce evolved <strong>in</strong>to a significant<br />

cultural, religious, and commercial<br />

celebration of romance and love <strong>in</strong><br />

many parts of <strong>the</strong> world thanks to<br />

later folk traditions.<br />

Valent<strong>in</strong>e's Day rituals, such<br />

as giv<strong>in</strong>g candy, and flowers,<br />

orig<strong>in</strong>ated <strong>in</strong> early modern England<br />

and extended throughout <strong>the</strong><br />

English-speak<strong>in</strong>g globe <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

People across <strong>the</strong> globe celebrate<br />

Valent<strong>in</strong>e’s Day by send<strong>in</strong>g love<br />

messages to partners, friends, and<br />

family. On this day, couples all over<br />

<strong>the</strong> world send Valent<strong>in</strong>e’s Day<br />

flowers and cards to each o<strong>the</strong>r,<br />

and also spend time toge<strong>the</strong>r to<br />

celebrate <strong>the</strong> love and affection <strong>the</strong>y<br />

have for each o<strong>the</strong>r.<br />

The day celebrates <strong>the</strong> bond and<br />

<strong>the</strong> relationship between people.<br />

It is a day that teaches us how we<br />

should express our love, care, and<br />

respect for anyone important <strong>in</strong> our<br />

life. It helps us to feel happy about<br />

our loved ones. It also shows us <strong>the</strong><br />

importance of happ<strong>in</strong>ess we feel<br />

when we are around <strong>the</strong> ones who<br />

matter to us.<br />

This Valent<strong>in</strong>e’s Day, if you have<br />

a better half or partner, express<br />

your love for <strong>the</strong>m. However, do<br />

not forget to express your love to<br />

those o<strong>the</strong>r people who are also<br />

important <strong>in</strong> your life. This is <strong>the</strong><br />

day to thank people, whosoever<br />

<strong>the</strong>y are, for be<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong>re <strong>in</strong> your<br />

life and be<strong>in</strong>g with you when you<br />

needed <strong>the</strong>m. S<strong>in</strong>ce Valent<strong>in</strong>e’s Day<br />

is all about love, one should make<br />

it a po<strong>in</strong>t to spread <strong>the</strong> love around<br />

BRAND LOGOS<br />

Gucci gives <strong>the</strong> world a taste<br />

of Italian fashion and seals<br />

each design with its stamp of<br />

approval: <strong>the</strong> Gucci symbol.<br />

Gucci was established by a man<br />

named Guccio Gucci. The Italian<br />

immigrant began <strong>the</strong> brand <strong>in</strong><br />

1921 after work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a Parisian<br />

hotel. The comb<strong>in</strong>ation of hav<strong>in</strong>g a<br />

lea<strong>the</strong>r craftsman fa<strong>the</strong>r and see<strong>in</strong>g<br />

luxurious luggage with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> hotels<br />

led Gucci to start his own high-end<br />

lea<strong>the</strong>r shop <strong>in</strong> Florence. Work<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> hotels helped give Gucci<br />

an understand<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>the</strong> luxury<br />

consumer – this <strong>in</strong>fluenced his<br />

brand decisions.<br />

The official Gucci logo hasn’t<br />

changed much s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong> 1930s,<br />

when one of Gucci’s sons recreated<br />

his fa<strong>the</strong>r’s mark. Aldo Gucci<br />

designed <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>terlaced double<br />

G logo, represent<strong>in</strong>g his fa<strong>the</strong>r’s<br />

<strong>in</strong>itials. The mean<strong>in</strong>g of <strong>the</strong> word<br />

“Gucci” represents, Excellence,<br />

Greatness, Fashionable, and F<strong>in</strong>e.<br />

The shape of <strong>the</strong> logo also mimics<br />

<strong>the</strong> l<strong>in</strong>ks of a bracelet, which gives<br />

some strength to <strong>the</strong> company’s<br />

position as a luxury brand. The<br />

iconic symbol is one of <strong>the</strong> most<br />

recognizable emblems <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world,<br />

and it now appears on countless<br />

fashion products produced by <strong>the</strong><br />

brand. The Gucci logo acts as a<br />

seal of approval for what many<br />

consider to be <strong>the</strong> most fashionable<br />

cloth<strong>in</strong>g and accessories <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

world.<br />

Mercedes-Benz was created by<br />

two visionary men with a common<br />

passion for eng<strong>in</strong>eer<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

mechanics: Karl Benz and Gottlieb<br />

Daimler. Karl Benz established<br />

Benz & Cie. and Gottlieb Daimler<br />

established DMG. In 1900, <strong>the</strong><br />

“Mercedes” car was developed by<br />

DMG, but <strong>the</strong> brand experienced a<br />

roadblock when <strong>the</strong> war broke out<br />

<strong>in</strong> Germany, as it made gasol<strong>in</strong>e<br />

unaffordable for drivers. Fastforward<br />

to 1926, DMG and Benz<br />

& Cie. merged <strong>in</strong>to Daimler-Benz.<br />

In 1927, around 7,000 Mercedes-<br />

Benz cars were produced and it<br />

proved to be a profitable merger.<br />

The Mercedes-Benz W15 emerged<br />

three-years later and fast became<br />

one of <strong>the</strong> most desirable vehicles<br />

on <strong>the</strong> market.<br />

The bra<strong>in</strong>child of <strong>the</strong> sons of<br />

Gottlieb Daimler, Paul and Adolf<br />

Daimler, <strong>the</strong> orig<strong>in</strong>al Mercedes-<br />

Benz logo was a gold star.<br />

Inspiration for this design came<br />

from a symbol used by <strong>the</strong>ir fa<strong>the</strong>r<br />

to mark family postcards. Through<br />

<strong>the</strong> evolution of Mercedes-Benz,<br />

<strong>the</strong> logo was altered and eventually<br />

became a white star at <strong>the</strong> center<br />

of a thick circular border with<br />

detail<strong>in</strong>g around <strong>the</strong> edges. Today,<br />

a silver circle with a Three-Po<strong>in</strong>ted<br />

Star <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> center is now recognized<br />

as <strong>the</strong> Mercedes-Benz logo. While<br />

<strong>the</strong> logo mean<strong>in</strong>g was rooted <strong>in</strong><br />

family, it now has come to represent<br />

<strong>the</strong> strength and prevalence of<br />

Daimler eng<strong>in</strong>es on <strong>the</strong> land, on <strong>the</strong><br />

sea, and <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> air.<br />
