Seat PositionCorrectly positioning the seat exactly the same for each flight improves landingperformance and safety.The fore-aft adjustment is correct when the heels are on the floor with the ballsof the feet on the rudder pedals, not on the brakes. The feet should be at a 45°angle from the floor to the pedals and the pilot should be able to apply fullrudder inputs without shifting their body weight. When braking is required,lift the foot from the floor rather than keeping the leg suspended in the air orresting the feet on the upper portion of the pedals.The seat height should be adjusted so the pilot can see the curvature of thecowling, while still being able to see all flight instruments, for the best sightpicture during landing.TIP: Proper foot position helps prevent inadvertent brakeapplication during landings and ground operations.Braking TechniqueDuring all normal landings, utilize minimal wheel braking. The pilot's heelsmust be on the floor and off the brake controls at touchdown. Through therollout, apply aerodynamic braking by gradually increasing elevator backpressure. Once all aircraft wheels are on the ground and flight controls havelost aerodynamic effectiveness, slowly move feet up onto the top portion ofthe pedals and into a position to gently apply brakes.
